I stayed at the Glendale for 2 nights with my Mum. The hosts were welcoming, the rooms were lovely and spotless and the ensuite was of a really good quality. We really enjoyed the breakfasts - there was a wide choice and it is the best scrambled egg I can remember eating!! Oh and home made marmalade to finish off!! The hosts arranged a last minute packed lunch for us when our plans changed and included homemade cakes in this - yummy! The B&B is within easy walking distance of the town centre, restaurants and even the cinema is just around the corner. Overall, we were very happy with our stay.

My wife and I have stayed at Glendale several times and are always impressed with the efficient arrangements, friendly reception, excellent accommodation, and superb catering. The furnishings are tasteful, the linen immaculate, the en-suite glistens and is equipped with all that one expects. The breakfast Gilly prepares is of exceptional quality and enormous size; just what you need to set you up for a day on the Fells. Martin is the perfect host, very knowledgeable of the area and the Fells, his help and advice have always made our stays in the Lake District most rewarding and enjoyable.

We are seasoned travellers and our visits to countless places in both the UK and various parts of the world convince us that prospective visitors to the Lake District can safely be recommended to this very high quality B & B guest house; Glendale is as good as they come! !

We stayed at the Glendale for a week.
we have nothing but praise for Martin and Gilly. They have put a lot of effort into making ones stay enjoyable
The room was all that could be desired. The shower was hot, the towels like a five star hotel.
The breakfast was excellent with a very wide choice, especially the porridge.
Martin was a fund of knowledge on the area and where to go.
We will certainly stay there again. Very highly recommended. We had no problems

My wife and I have just stayed three nights at Glendale in a standard double room. All facilities and the whole guesthouse were immaculate. There was an excellent range of cereals, fresh fruit, juices, yoghurts or porridge to die fort followed by a comprehensive carefully cooked choice. If you have room for the white or whole-grain brown toast and marmalade, and much tea or coffee as you want you may need a kip before thinking of tackling any walking.

The premises are just 5 minutes walk from the town centre. Gilly and Martin are first class friendly hosts who are able to off advice on walks and all other activities. A bonus is a guide book in the foyer to restaurants and other places to eat. It is maintained by guests who make their own comments and even score them out of 10.

All in all - why go elsewhere?

Glendale is an excellent place to stay when visiting the Lakes District. If we ever return to this area this would be our choice for accomodation. The property is within walking distance from the town centre as well as the lake shore if you are willing to walk a little longer. The room which we had was up a few flights of stairs and was very tastefully decorated with a comfortable bed. The ensuite bathroom was well appointed with a great hot shower.

Car parking is in the street and you may have to park up the road a bit if you can't find anything out the front. I think on one occasion we had to park about 70 metres away but this is not really a problem at all.

We stayed three days in May and would recommend this guest house. Also Keswick itself is a great place to stay in this area as it is not so touristy as the other higher profile locations in this area.

The hosts are easy to get along with and are helpfull when asked obout tourist information in the area.

Highly recommended
