Have just come back from a weekend stay at the Cartwheel and we could not fault it at all. Friendly welcome, excellent breakfast, fantastic location, beautifully clean - and such good value for money! Don't miss the homemade cakes in the dining room after a day out walking! We would definitely stay there again next time we are in Keswick.

We have just returned from a very relaxing weekend at the Cartwheel. We were made to feel very welcome by the owners Tina & Bernie who really can not do enough to make your stay throughly enjoyable. Nothing seems to much trouble from filling your flask for you, if you are going out walking to providing complimentary home made cakes to die for on your return!

The accomodation is very comfortable and spotlessly clean and the breakfasts are excellent and sets you up for the day ahead. The Cartwheel is in a great location a two minute walk to the centre of Keswick.

We will definitely return to the Cart wheel guesthouse and would certainly recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting Keswick for a relaxing break.

I Stayed At The Cartwheel In Early August For 2 Nights
I Have Stayed At Many Bed And Breakfast Hotels In The Lake District Over The Years But The Cartwheel Is The Best I Have Stopped In At Just £ 26 Pounds Per Night For A Single Room It Is Fantastic Value For Money From The Moment I Arrived I Was Made To feel Very Welcome And Tina And Bernie
Were So Friendly They Could Not Do Enough For You The Breakfast Was Very Good And Well Prepared Unlike Some Hotels Tina And Bernie Offer A Wide Variety Of Breakfast Choice
My Single Room Was Quite Large And Very Comfortable .
Tina And Bernie Are Quite New To Running A Guest House As They Told Me This Was There First Guest House All I Can Say To That Is They Leave Everybody Standing And Are Way Ahead Of Their Competitors In The Keswick Area I Plan To Return
Next Year For Another Visit ( Hopefully Next Time It Might Just Stop Raining )

Stayed at the Cartwheel 1st & 2nd Nov 2008
Reviewers: D & H. Chorley, Lancs

Lovely hosts Tina & Bernie made our stay perfect in every way,
from the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home.
The four poster bedroom was very nice, superbly arranged with en suite and ample room. With a view of Skiddaw to the rear, a TV, Tea & Coffee and home made cake that appeared daily, curtesy of Bernie who also produced an excellent breakfast of very good choice each morning.
The weekend weather could not have been better either, with fantastic views all around, from the top of Cat Bells (a good fell walk to suit the average walker)
Tina was the perfect host, she saw to our every need, suggested good eating places and even provided a OS Map of the area to assist our fell walking.
Nothing seemed too much to ask of the hosts, we learnt that they had just had their first year in the guest house business and if they continue to please,as they did us, then they will always have a full house.
This is a "must try place" and we would definately go back, also recommend to our friends.

We stayed at the Cartwheel a few weeks ago, and i wanted to write on Trip advisor to say what a lovely, welcoming place it is. We have stayed at a number of B and B's in the Keswick area - over the years, but have never enjoyed our stay as much as we did at the Cartwheel.

The owners were very welcoming, and made us feel as if it was home from home!!!

We enjoyed a lovely cooked english breakfast, and were offered home baked cake on our return from our daily walk - in the evening. The owners also offered to dry our walking boots and coats - after our walk in the rain - so that they would be dry for our evening out!!!.

We will definately be going back to the Cartwheel for a short break next year.

Thanks

Emma and Stephen

We were a Small Group of well behaved men having a weekend of exercise and relaxation based in the cartwheel. We found the welcome warm, breakfast sustaining and well cooked and the owners flexible enough to enjoy our challenges (boots, bikes, group men together). We respected the other tennents privacy also. We would use the Cartwheel again as it is perfectly placed, well maintained and welcoming.
