We visited and ate at the pub whilst staying in the campsite next door. V small vegetarian only food and what we ordered was very poor. Curry was ok but goats cheese salad, veggie sausage and chips and mixed starters greasy poorly presented and lacking in flavour. Beer was good and they do allow dogs but not a recommended stop off after a days walking.

Room Tip: Just get a drink

Our favourite bar meal is Van's crispy duck style pancakes.

There is also a great choice of breakfast. The homemade pancakes with syrup are delicious if like me you don't want a huge breakfast every day.

All the rooms are ensuite and we have always found them to be fresh and homely. The best part being the views over Skiddaw and Derwent.

We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in a home from home whilst visiting in the Lakes

I found this a lovely and charming hotel. The owners were extremely helpful and couldn't do enough for you. Our room was a decent size, clean and tastefully decorated. The food was delicious with a wide selection from both the bar menu and the breakfast choices. I enjoyed the pancakes. The views are spectacular and we enjoyed our walk into town and back up!!! I will definitely be returning and staying at this hotel plus I'd recommend it to other people thinking of visiting Keswick.

We chose to stay at the Heights as we wanted a 100% vegetarian hotel. It surpassed our expectations in every way. The hotel has a lovely family atmosphere. It is bright and very clean with stunning views. The bedroom was so cosy and the bed really comfortable. Barry and Van are the loveliest people we have met in a long time, so genuinely kind and welcoming. They couldn't do enough for us, adding lots of little touches and made our stay really special. The breasfasts were plentiful and filling with a wide range of choices, including wonderful home-made pancakes. The evening meals were gorgeous. There was a large choice on the menu and every meal was so good with large portions - all meals were very fresh and home cooked - and so tasty that even non-vegetarians are likely to thoroughly enjoy them. We have just got back and will certainly be going again.

I have been visiting this hotel for the past four years. What a fantastic hotel. Beautiful views over Keswick and Derwent Water. The restaurant is fully vegetarian. Now, I am certainly not a vegetarian, but the meals are delicious. The host and hostess are wonderful, pleasant people. The bar attached to the hotel sells a good range of local bears. If you are visiting Keswick, or the surrounding area, make sure you book a room at "The Heights Hotel".

We rolled into Keswick in the late afternoon, off season, without having previously booked accomodation, and were directed to The Heights when the tourist office staffperson heard we were vegetarians. The hotel is in a beautiful location on a high hillside outside of town. Our room was simple but very clean, and Van and Barry couldn't have been more welcoming. The attached pub is centuries old and very cozy. We had outstanding, filling breakfasts and dinners and found the dinner menu full of many enticing choices. Anyone who is not a vegetarian should certainly give it a try--excellent, hearty comfort food that just happens to be vegetarian. The hotel is a great starting point for some nice walks. We took in Walla Crag for spectacular views of the lake and surrounding area, and you can also easily walk to Castlerigg Stone Circle. It would be hard to find more accomodating and welcoming hosts than the proprietors of The Heights Hotel!

Room Tip: Ask for a room looking out towards the lake.
