We always visit when we are in Keswick for coffee or lunch. The food etc has always been very good so we decided to call in before heading home.

There were 3 of us and the only table available for that number was in the conservatory but it felt very warm. We pulled a chair round to a table in the main part of the cafe to make 3 seats. Leaving plenty of room for people to get by us. A wheelchair could have got by us. The owner lady told us we would be best not sitting there as we may get a tray of food down our backs. She then proceeded to bring a different type of chair which wouldn't have made a difference.

We decided to leave as we could not believe the situation. Her staff are obviously used to leaning over people to serve food so surely our seating arrangement would not have caused a problem.

Our elderly mum suggested that she should sit on her own at another table. No way!

Won't visit again.

Today I popped into treeby and Bolton for lunch after various recommendations, it's a nice use of space below there showrooms,w a nicely furnished conservatory.

Service here seemed pretty basic, you find your own table choose your meal then proceed to the counter to place and pay for your order.

This isn't such bad thing if your wanting the quick in and out experience of a Nandos!? But in a decent looking tearoom w a nice sounding menu you would expect more, this was best highlighted when i witnessed the table across from me finish there lunch to then have to head back to the counter to order and pay for pudding ( which did look nice)

Seems there really missing out on a crucial part of hospitality here Interaction!! Goes a long way to a creating a diners experience, that said the servers were pleasant
enough, but really didnt have to do much more than drop off and collect plates.

My soup and sandwich combo was nice, the poached salmon was delicate and flavoursome, but my carrot soup not so, found myself loading it w pepper and salt ( which did come from a nice pepper mill) .

I would definitely go back to sample there very good looking cake selection that's on display, and the coffee was also very good but think I would head elsewhere for lunch in Keswick.

Visited for the first time. Pleasant interior and busy atmosphere. Looking at the price of goods I was expecting top rate service. Sadly service seemed a low priority. Why serve one persons meal then wait an age for the other three to come separately. Why lean over a diner to serve food when the more polite way would of been to move round to the end of the table where nobody was seated. Even though the food was enjoyable the poor service lingers and leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. Doubt we will return. Cafés in Keswick are ten a penny.

This amazing gallery and cafe is always a 'must visit' when we are in the Keswick area. The shop and gallery is a treasure trove of high quality ceramics, glass and decorative objets d'arte, exciting contemporary paintings, sculptures and jewellery. Also featured over the two floors are mirrors, kitchenalia, lighting and even greeting cards and leather bags - the list goes on!
Downstairs is the modern cafe/bar where, at peak times, it is difficult to find a vacant seat or table. However, the wait is worth it. Our visits have always always included a light snack or coffee and a delicious sweet confection but we really must make the effort and sample a more mainstream meal next time. Nice atmosphere and reasonably quick service considering how busy it is.

We were actually looking for a Sunday lunch, but caught sight of the menu and opted for a lighter snack. We were lucky to get a table straight away - the rest of the time it was packed. Food was delicious. Although the portions were not huge, this meant we could indulge in some cake and sticky toffee pudding and still manage to get up Walla Crag afterwards! Service was what you would expect from a busy cafe and the staff were pleasant and efficient.
