“Cold water!”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

This hotel is well situated for access to Keswick and all the things associated with the Lakes, but NO Hot water on a Sunday is not on. Most annoyingly the staff knew there was a problem
and no notification was given a simple note under a door would help its not too much to ask for in this day and age. The receptionist when asked gave the standard answer a plumber is on the way not much use when you check out at 11. We have stayed here several times and this was the poorest visit to date. On a positive the breakfast is well worth it with good choice and attentive staff.

Room Tip: Make sure there is hot water

Well situated hotel with easy access to Keswick and adjacent areas. Hotel is currently undergoing decoration and unfortunately we were allocated room on floor where working occurred. Bedrooms are modest by todays standards requiring considerable updating in decor, furnishings and particularly en suite facilities. Unfortunately the lift was not working during our stay. Apart from this an enjoyable break was obtained with an excellent choice of menu served by pleasant staff. The attractions of the Keswick area are such that I would have no hesitation in returning to this hotel for another visit.

Room Tip: Front and garden facing rooms would be preferred.

All members of staff, from top to bottom were most friendly and very helpful at all times, nothing was too much trouble them. Although there was a problem with the hotel's boiler, with a possible lack of heating and hot water, we were given free wine with our dinner and packed lunches for the following day and somehow the boiler was 'fixed' so we did have heat and water, and also the free wine & lunch packs. That is what I call first class service,we will certainly be returning again!

Room Tip: we found both rooms that we were in were very good, only comment we would make, is that we would ha...

We have stayed at this hotel a number of times & have always found the staff to be helpful & considerate inall areas of the Hotel. The rom was excellently maintained. We would recommend this Hotel to anyone, in fact we brought back brochures for our next door neighbour. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: We find the Station rooms to be quieter & more seclusive

Second time at this hotel we stayed five nights. Food at this hotel very good excellent choice at breakfast and evening meal. The room was a very spacious. The hotel is in a very good area for visiting all the lake district, if you want to walk or drive. We will be back again early next.

We have been visiting the Keswick Hotel for several years, twice a year.It gets better every visit. The continuing re-furbishment means it changes every stay.Steph and her team are to be congratulated on the wonderful service, food and attention to detail. The room we always stay in has recently been re-decorated,to a very high standard. The curtains must have cost a fortune!During our stay a curtain hook fell off,it was replaced before we had time to report it!The hotel maintenance man was a delight, just like the rest of the staff.
Steph told me that she gets complaints about our room,I cannot understand why. It has views to Skiddaw,Whinlatter,Nrwlands,Catbells and the Borrowdale valley. What more can you ask for.Once again, thanks to Steph,Peter and ALL the staff at the Keswick

1st time at this hotel, but always enjoyed stays at Choice Hotels, Keswick C.H. Hotel well placed for Keswick town, 5 min walk, meals great, still on self service breakfast 'spread', and especially the choice and presentation of the evening dinners, our twin room was excelent for size and views.
Our visit could have turned a bit sad due to the main boiler packing up on the Sunday morning, no heating or hot water, with Duty Manager being told by the engineer "no hope for repair till next week".
Duty Manager's thoughts turned to the Guests who were offered free botle of wine with evening meal, free evening coffee in the bar, free packed lunch next day, and then after all that the boiler was fixed same day, but the freebies stayed , "the guests were important" an excellent staff attitude throughout, all added to an enjoyable stay.
