On first arrival this hotel looks a bit tired and smells a bit musty but the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food more than makes up . No wifi, pool, gym or other modern enhancements but a good location, pleasant grounds and great views. Our room was comfortable once you got used to the creaky floors. Worthwhile if you can get a dinner, bed and breakfast deal.

This was my first visit to the Keswick Country House Hotel but hopefully not my last. I had heard good reports of the hotel from the friends I was staying there with, especially about the food, and I can honestly say I wasn’t disappointed. I stayed in a twin room on the top floor at the back of the hotel. The room was a little dated but more than adequate with the usual tea/coffee making facilities flat screen tv etc and was quite spacious. The twin room also had a large bathroom with plenty of clean towels and soaps. The beds were very comfortable and I had 2 very good nights sleep. The hotel itself is set in beautiful and peaceful surroundings with the restaurant overlooking the putting green and gardens. I was unaware but pleasantly surprised to discover that part of the hotel was an old railway platform which is now a conservatory with plenty of relaxing seating areas and a snooker table which we also used during our stay. The food is exceptional, the warm and friendly staff escort you to your table in a very large dining area. The 3 course evening meal menu also includes the chef’s recommendation for each course if you are struggling to decide which delicious dish to choose from!!! It’s a short walk from the hotel to Keswick centre itself where you can make full use of the numerous shops and pubs. The hotel also has it’s own bar which again we made full use of. The atmosphere in the hotel bar is very quiet and relaxing and there is a large comfortable seating area overlooking the gardens. The hotel serves breakfast from 8 o’clock and again, the food was exceptional. There literally was everything you could possibly imagine to choose from. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the hotel and can’t wait to visit again.

We stayed here for 3 days August 30th and we enjoyed our stay but unfortunately didn't have a room with the views around the Hotel
However the restuarant was lovely and spacious and the staff ever so helpful
Our room was a standard twin room which was very clean (ALTHOUGH A LITTLE DATED TO BE EXPECTED IN THE OLD BUILDING)
We would go again but would update our bedroom.
The situation of the Hotel is excellent as so close to the town and the Lake itself. Very convenient

Room Tip: There ar numerous styles of rooms to choose from and we would upgrade ourselves next time as we only...

Nice clean hotel. Food is excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly. On certain evenings you can sit and watch the Keswick croquet team practice on the lawn while you eat your meal. I'm sure if you ask they will give you a game.

We found this hotel absolutely great. The food was the best we have ever had in any hotel we have visited. The staff were all extremely friendly and everywhere was spotless. The grounds surrounding the hotel were an added bonus. We had a wonderful time whilst celebrating our 53rd wedding anniversary. Probably the only downside, we had a little difficulty in finding a car parking spot but there was a conference at the hotel when we arrived.

This hotel is within easy walking distance of Keswick town centre and the surrounding fells. It is a shame there is no mention on their website that Keswick Leisure pool is right next door for those who fancy a swim. We found all the staff to be pleasant, efficient and helpful. We both felt that the decor, especially in the public areas, has seen better days and could do with updating. Our room, a deluxe king, was large and had a lovely view over the gardens and towards the mountains - some rooms overlook the car park so best to request a garden view when booking. There was a very well equipped beverage tray and plenty of storage room. However the windows needed cleaning and are impossible to open at all - thus no fresh air which we did not like. The bathroom was modern and looked clean at first glance but needed more attention to detail. There were several hairs around the bath and on the washbasin, not nice! It was a very quiet room which enabled a good night's sleep. Evening meal was plentiful and nicely cooked, the rib eye steak was especially delicious. Wine list is quite extensive and starts from about £16.50. Breakfast was good, excellent choice of fresh fruit. It is buffet style and as with nearly all hotel breakfast buffets the food was not very hot . All in all a pleasant enough stay but at £168 for dinner bed and breakfast plus wine we would look for an alternative next time.

Room Tip: Request garden view room on upper floor
