“Awful owner - what is his problem?!”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

we booked this as a treat to spend a few days mountain biking in the lake district having just spent 3 months away in Afghanistan and were looking forward to a well earned realxing break.
As soon as we arrived the owner seemed to have some kind of attitude against us, was extremely unfriendly and was annoyed that we had parked our car in an obstructive way despite there being at least a foot between the back of the car and the pavement.
My partner had enquired prior to arriving if there was secure storage for mountain bikes and was assured there was. However on arrival, the owner seemed to think it was satisfactory to leave bike worth over £1000 each chained up outside against a railing! The lake district is one of the best destinations for moutain biking and outdoor activites in the country so you would think the owner would have some sort of appreciation of this!
The accomodation itself seemed perfectly adequate, although there was no kind of communal lounge/tv area but with the owner's atitude we checked out immediately -even then he followed us in our car up the street to spy on us! weird?! there are plenty of other lovely hotels nearby. Don't bother with this one!

We had a weekend at Rooms36 and cannot praise Andy and Charlotte highly enough for a warm and welcoming stay. We had a wonderful large family room that was more than big enough for the 4 of us. The location is perfect for either walking into the town centre or along the park to Derwentwater for a boat trip. Breakfast was fantastic and plentiful and one of the best we have had. A return trip is a must!

Lovely room, lovely breakfast, lovely hosts! We had our own front door key that made it feel Home from Home! Even our little dog Dot was made so welcome, perfect....Also a great and quiet location right next to the park.

This is our second visit. Andy and Charlotte are friendly and welcoming. The rooms are warm and clean. The breakfasts are excellent with homemade granola, yoghurt, bread and a fabulous range of fresh fruits included. We had a great stay.

Just got back home from our trip to the Lake District. We love going to stay at Rooms 36, Andy and Charlotte are such brilliant hosts. The rooms are spotless and the breakfast are fabulous with a choice of fresh fruit, cereals, fresh croissants and really good cooked breakfast. We had a very spacious family room that accommodated the 4 of us plus the dog very easily. Bracken, our dog, was also given a very warm welcome and really enjoyed the fuss that was made of her! The location is ideal, just a 5 minute stroll from the town centre and Derwent Water. We will definitely be staying again.

Rooms 36 is a real home from home. Spacious clean rooms and plenty of space for a family of four. The breakfasts were served to order and were of a very high standard. Andy, Charotte and Kate were incredibly welcoming and both my children made a good friend in Kate. I loved all the added touches such as the brilliant coffee machine and the locally sourced soaps and shower gels. Charlotte recommended some really nice places to eat on an evening and we were very sorry to leave on our last day - so much so that we are hoping to return at Christmas. A lovely break and we would highly recommend this guest house to any family wanting to stay in the beautiful lake district.

Room Tip: We had the front room and it was superb for a family of four

Fantastic accomodation of the highest spec. The rooms are spotless, and the breakfast is very good from having cereal, fresh fruit or trhe traditional fry up. Andy and Charlotte are very nice and make you very welcome, would highly recommend anyone to stay here. Location is superb, 5 mins from town centre and also the lake.
