We enjoyed our stay at Stonegarth. We were made very welcome by Stephen and given a key when we arrived even though we were much too early.
The room we were given was spacious with good views out of both windows and the main part of Keswick very accessable, only a few minutes walk from Stonegarth. Also safe car parking - we don't like to park our car on the street.
It is the only guest house where we have had a fridge. The complimentary drinks and fresh milk were very accepable along with a good choice of teas and coffee.
The last reviewers who were also in that room obviously expected 5* hotel facilities. They should have booked in a hotel if that was what they wanted. The chaise longe was movable and therefore quite adequate for watching TV with as many channels as we need. We don't go away to watch TV!
The breakfast was excellent, eggs to die for!
We will return.

The read up and reviews were so great we just had go ourselves, Chose to go average and had the room with a sleigh bed, first impressions looked good. however closer look the room ceiling was shabby with cracked ceiling, room wasn't cleaned properly with hairclips under edge of bed and dusty phone. sleeping was inpossible as the mattress was terribly uncomfortable and the bed creak at every touch/turn. the TV was wonderfully large but lacked in channels of interest. the chaise longe hard and wrongly placed in room could have done with a couple of small easy chairs to relax and watch tv.
Shower was adequate. Complimentary soft drinks in fridge very limited and if you can't take Caffeine you are out of luck. However couldn't fault the breakfast.

We are very disappointed to have received this review. Maybe a bit of background information will be of help to future readers
This guest cancelled their original booking on the day before arrival due to the unspecified "illness" of her husband. Rather than charging the cancellation fee we offered the opportunity to resheduale the visit and this was accepted by the guest. The room offered for this reshedualed booking, during the October school holidays, was different to the original one booked as this was not available for the new dates. This was explained and agreed in advance by the guest. We believe that this poor review has been made because the guest wished to cancel the orignal booking at the last minute without incurring a cancellation fee or having a reshedualed visit.

We are a small six bedroomed B & B and undertake minor repair works such as filling in a thin crack in the bedroom ceiling during the winter period of November to Easter. We apologise that the crack has not been repaired but the ceiling can hardly merit being called "shabby" Whilst we are well aware that everyone has their own preferences of bed mattresses ranging from the rock hard to the super soft, we have chosen to use a high quality mid range mattress for all our beds and after much research settled upon the Staples Miami mattress. A choice which has proved very popular with our other guests.

We offer a well stocked choice of teas and coffee in the bedrooms, but because of space limitations we are unable to display the full range of available drinks, such as decaf tea and coffee, together with peppermint; green and a variety of hebal teas in the rooms. These are all available upon request.

All our bedrooms have a wall mounted 32 inch Sony TV with built in freeview. Each room also has a fridge with fresh milk, bottled water, coke and orange juice, all of which are complimentary and restocked daily. We apologise that this guest was unable to find a TV channel of interest and that she found the choice of fridge drinks to be very limited but does this say more about this particular guest than ourselves?

This is a wonderful B and B in fact it is the best B and B we have ever stayed in anywhere - not just Keswick. The rooms are clean and spacious and the food and service is wonderful. We sould not recommend it more highly.

Booked this last minute stay online following a recomendation from a work mate.
We arrived earlier than expected and asked permission to leave the car in the car park, but were told the room was ready and were taken to it and shown how to operate the bath & shower, not because we are simple, but because the oversized bath was fitted with a jacuzzi & the spacious shower had water jets too.
After an afternoon wandering around Keswick we returned to the room which looked recently decorated. The two seater settee was a welcome change instead of having to sit on the bed There was fresh milk in the mini fridge along with complimentary juice & pop. We shared a bath whilst watching Jamie Oliver on the bathroom tv, complete with waterproof remote.
After a pleasant evening sampling the real ale in various pubs we returned to the room again. The luxurious four poster bed provided a more than comfortable nights sleep.
Breakfast was juice, cereal, full english & toast.
A good clean hotel decorated and furnished to a high standard, highly recommended.

Booked the 4 poster room with jackuzzi bath. Fantastic!
Perfect for a short break close to centre of Keswick. Good customer service with some nice individual touches such as sherry on arrival and fresh milk in your room .
Only slight complaint was bacon with the breakfast, too dry though all locally sourced and the eggs were awesome.

On arrival we were met by Diane who was very helpful giving directions into the town centre and the Lake side, both are only minutes away. The room was was clean and cosy and had some very special little touches; a glass of sherry waiting to welcome you, your own fridge with fresh milk for tea and coffee, complimentary soft drinks and water and the option to chill your own wine (glasses and corkscrew provided). The bed is comfy and cosy, and the bathroom has some special treats.

We were greeted in the breakfast room every morning by Stephen who is very very attentive to his guests and service is friendly and efficient. I had the Lakeland breakfast and some of the lighter options all of which were cooked well and a great way start to the day.

The Stonegarth also has off road parking which is great because the parking in the street is almost impossible.

My partner brought the USB cable for his blackberry rather than the charger, but Stephen saved the day and was very obliging and charged it up via his PC.

We have just returned from a four day trip, walking in Keswick this B&B is the perfect retreat to relax, rest, and freshen up after a day out. I would be more than happy to recommend a stay here to friends and family, a great B&B and good value too.

The Stonegarth is always very busy, a testament to the quality of service, we hoped to have a room with a spa bath but it was already booked. So book early.

Very friendly owner, lovely comfortable luxury room. wasn't any decaf coffee in the room as soon as we mentioned it a whole jar appeared in our room. Complementary bottle of water, carton of squash , and tin of coke left in the fridge every day. Started the day with fruit juice, cereal, yoghurt or grapefruit followed by locally sourced fried breakfast toast, tea and coffee.
Short walk from the town centre and Derwent water.
