“Very relaxing and worth the money !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 8, 2010

Only stayed one night, a last minute thing. Very friendly people, lovely room, just what we needed. Worth the money if only for the brilliant jacuzzi bath and tv in bathroom, where we sat and watched tv whilst having a drink !
very close to Keswick centre which was a bonus as a short walk and we had everything there. It was very peaceful and quiet in the surrounding area.
Didnt make the breakfast as we had a lie in. Very clean place, feels great as sooon as you walk in.

We have just recently come back from one of our many stays at the Stonegarth and feel that we just have to write a review about this great guest house, although its a bit like cutting our noses off to spite our faces, if we tell you how fantastic this place is we will not be able to get booked up in the future!!! The owners of the house - Di and Steven - offer you a warm welcome and an even warmer glass of sherry in your room to help you settle in. The rooms are fantastic, we have stayed in a few and hav,nt decided which one is our favourite YET!! One of the great things about Stonegarth is the location, it is only a 5 minute walk to the town centre and a great base for walking in the lakes itself, your close to a few walks from the house itself, and in the evening you can dine in any of the many good restaurants in Keswick without having to drive - a big bonus. Breakfast is a great start to the day as it consists of many local ingredents and there is no scrimping either, I think Steven wants you to walk off your "all day breakfast". Hopefully not many people will read this review and we can then book up again without too much trouble, seriously though if you get the chance to book this guest house do so, because it is one of "thee" best places to stay, we could not recommend it any more.

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights, and if I am honest, was apprehensive due to the pictures on their website not looking the best. How wrong can you be !! From the moment we rang the bell, Stephen welcomed us into his very well presented guest house, showed us to our fantastic room, and was a very genial host, with nothing being any trouble for him. We stayed in room 3, which was spacious, and included a 4 poster bed, sofa, wardrobe, dressing table, small fridge (with FREE fresh milk and soft drinks inside) & large flat screen TV on wall. The bathroom was also spacious, including a large jacuzzi bath, a big shower cubicle with body jets as well, and a TV in there in case you fancy a lazy soak !!! The guest house is located about 3 mins walk from the centre of Keswick, which in itself is very central for the Lakes, and the breakfast is first class with a very good choice that should suit everyone.....Thank You Stephen, we will definitely be back !

This is easily the best guest house we have stayed at. This is a family run guest house, which became obvious as you felt as though you were being welcomed into their home. Our room was immaculate and very well appointed with 2 flat screen TV,s including one in the bathroom! A four poster bed and a double jacuzzi. fresh milk was replaced in the fridge each day and there was a glass of sherry waitng for us on arrival. This break was to celebrate a special birthday for my wife, which did not go unoticed. there was a birthday card and chocolates waiting for her on arrival. The guest house is only a short distance from the main street however is extremely quiet. Off street parking is a real bonus as the streets in keswick do get very busy. I would definatley book again.

Just spent night at Stonegarth with husband for my birthday as we have for the last 9 years! The rooms are out of this world, fabulously comfy beds, Egyptian cotton bedlinen, beautiful furntiure and bathrooms to die for..........even a tv inbult in the mirror, how fabulous is that to lay in the jacuzzi watching "friends", can't think of a place I would rather be when it's -13 dgs outside!!! Breakfast is more than enough and lovely, cooked to perfection!! We will continue to stay at Stonegarth for many years to come, wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else now..........and the added bonus of parking onsite is invaluable.....Get yourself there, you won't be disappointed and if you are you must be very difficult to please!!!!

Very cordial greeting, very well appointed, if small & slightly crowded (room 2). Lakeland breakfast (very enthusiastically recommended) is simply HUGE! Way too much for a Yank unused to eating so much in the morning (even skipping Elevenses!). Probably the best in an area where almost every residence is also a guest house.

We received a very hospitable welcome from the owner on our arrival and were made to feel most welcome. After our first night we discovered that the duvet and pillows were feather and asked if they could be changed due to my partner's asthma, this was done with not the slightest problem.
The hotel and rooms were clean and tidy and the bathroom was spotless. The glass or sherry in our rooms was a nice touch.
If I had a problem it would be that our room,no.1, overlooked the street and nearby hotels and the absence of nets at the windows left our privacy compromised
Secondly the "Lakeland Breakfast" is only available in a narrow window of 8.30-9.00 although lighter options are available outside this time.
Those two niggles apart we enjoyed a good stay
