The owner was pleasant and polite on arrival. He showed us to our room immediately and then left. No messing about filling in registration forms before we could get to our room.
The room was lovely, exactly like the pictures on the website. It was clean and well furnished with tasteful furniture. There were drinks in the fridge, including milk, orange juice, water and coke. Two welcoming glasses of sherry awaited us! There were plenty of toiletries available.
The bed and pillows were so comfortable! best nights sleep in ages.
The Guest house is situated in quiet location but near enough to walk into town - just a couple of minutes away. The owner was also able to advise on where to go to eat out.
The breakfast was varied and the owner was keen to cater to ensure that all our needs were met.
The worst thing that i can say about this guesthouse is a couple of creaky floorboards!! no big thing :)
would definitely stay here again.

Gorgeous rooms! Check the website to see them, I dare you not to choose the rooms with the jacuzzi and bathroom TV. Service was excellent, breakfast fantastic, and the personal care given is outstanding. On noticing it was my 40th birthday, a box of Swiss chocolates was left in our room. My husband and I are both vegetarians, and on overhearing that I was allergic to mushrooms, Steven went out of his way to get a different type of breakfast sausage for me. Nothing is a problem and you are made to feel most welcome. We will be back next time we visit Keswick!

Just back from this hotel 1 hour ago and missing it already, helped hugely by the fact that its raining in Edinburgh and sunny in Keswick.
Think I will begin with the breakfast which was brill, full English with a pot of tea or coffee, plenty toast and jam.I really looked forward to this every morning before you go walking as it keeps you going all afternoon, there was also yogurts fruit, cereal and juice.
Stephen is a lovely host and often asked if everything was ok. There was 2 sherrys in room for us arriving plus milk, water and juice in fridge which was replaced every day.
The room was lovely (ROOM ONE) it had a four poster with electric blanket and very soft pillows and downy, the electric blanket was great after one of our walks as we were cold and sore.
Bathroom had a shower and Jacuzzi which was nice after a walk with some wine. Nice fluffy towels and good toiletries. There was also car park which was great , I can imagine in the summer that it will be murder to park, we left it there for most of our stay and walked every where.
Keswick is a lovely town with loads to see, plenty walks starting from here, so I will be back and I will stay at the Stonegarth Guest House. ( Kettle and hair dryer in room)
Hope this helps and you enjoy this hotel as much as we did if you decide to go :) Oh almost forgot it has free internet.

We stayed for 2 nights (our second visit). This time we opted for room 3, after reading the reviews on here. Definitely a must! Modern four poster, but very comfortable. Lovely bathroom with everything you need, toiletries, double jacuzzi bath, separate shower and even a TV on the wall! Breakfast was also excellent. There is off road parking, which can be difficult to find in B&B's in Keswick. Well worth a visit.

Steve and Di have made this a real gem. The details of the rooms have obviously been carefully thought out, and Steve has a knack of anticipating little extras that you might appreciate. Keswick has many excellent guesthouses but Stonegarth really stands out.

We have just returned from a two night break at Stonegarth. We received a warm welcome from Stephen and enjoyed the complimentary sherry. The decoration of our bedroom (room 3) was stylish and the four poster bed extremely comfortable. To be able to watch the flat screen tv whilst relaxing in the jacuzzi bath was enjoyable after a long fell walk. The Lakeland breakfast was excellent, in particular, the quality bacon. The location was an easy walk into the town centre with the added bonus of being able to leave the car in the private car park.. We look forward to a return visit.
