“A very enjoyable day”

We visited during the Words by the Water festival, one of several staged by the theatre during the year. We had a thoroughly enjoyable, interesting day listening to the likes of Alan Johnson. Would recommend!

“Small is beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2014

Down point first - you have to be quick to get tickets to the annual festivals such as The Jazz, The Mountain & Literary, the reason being is that they are all so good, we just want to keep coming back. The wide variety of plays & acts is wonderful for such a small venue. The seats are comfortable, with good access for wheelchair users & helpful, informative staff. Toilets clean with hot water. Refreshments are all to a high standard from a swift half at the interval to a great meal pre performance. I would like to put you off visiting as I want to get a seat but can't really be that cruel, yes I can, don't go it's awful!!! A jewel in Keswick's crown.

“Small and welcoming”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 24, 2014 via mobile

This is the first time we've managed to visit Theatre by the Lake as it's always closed when we visit in May.

Saw Rookery Nook which was a great farce -well acted and very funny!

The theatre is small and has a cosy welcoming feel. Sides and balcony areas had an odd seating arrangement but we had front row seats which were perfectly good.

This is a modern theatre so as mentioned in other reviews there's not a vast amount of character but was a well laid out and friendly place all the same.

A very enjoyable evening!

“Fitted The Bill”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 20, 2014

We booked to go and see the presentation by Sir Ranulph Fiennes, during the Keswick Mountain Festival. It's very modern, and functional and, as such, doesn't have much character. Nonetheless; it does the job. All the staff were very helpful, and informative. The barriers on the boxes tend to restrict the view a bit, but that's Health & Safety for you I guess. Ranulph Fiennes was awesome by the way!
