Owner description: Theatre by the Lake has a setting on the shores of Derwentwater no other professional theatre in Britain can match. Each year it stages up to nine of its own productions of classic, modern and new plays on its two stages and has won multi-starred reviews from national critics. It also hosts festivals of literature, jazz, film and mountains. There are lifts to all levels and wheelchair users can get to all front-of-house and backstage areas. Both auditoria have enhanced-hearing and induction loop systems.

This was our third visit to the Theatre by the Lake, and the best, for an excellent production of "An Inspector Calls". Amidst all the seekers of physical challenge, it's great also to have this cultural oasis.

The theatre has a good range of facilities with both a studio and main theatre, café and restaurant so we use it just as a drop-in as well as a theatrical experience. It's just a great facility for the town to have, and a draw to visitors like ourselves.

During our holiday in lovely Keswick last week we had an evening at this great theatre to see "An Inspector Calls".
This was a brilliant production, the set excellent, I was riveted to the play throughout. Even though this was written several generations ago its message to society is still relevant.
The theatre is spacious comfortable and friendly, just a stone's throw from the lake- can't wait to go again!

My very first visit to this Theatre to see " An Inspector calls" JUST FANTASTIC. Great little cafe and bar also available. You can also order any drinks for the interval if you wish, therefore beating the que's . Car park within 10 metres of the theatre and its free parking after 7pm. Car Park is very busy during the summer as it is near the lakeshore, so arrive early but only pay up to 7pm. Booking available on line or direct at the theatre.
Simply a great night out for all.
Enjoy

We saw both a main play and a studio production both of which were very professionally presented. We got very good seats in the main theatre, in fact it is the only theatre where I have not had to peer around a head in front of me. The Studio was bigger than I was expecting but a bit more conventional with regard to having to peer around the person in front of you.
