“Relax and enjoy”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

This excellent Theatre has fantastic facilities and a cafe to relax in whether part of your evening out at the Theatre or just passing by on a walk to Derwent Water. An excellent view of the stage wherever you choose to sit.

“A Worthy Lakeland Performance (Almost)”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

From the setting (adjacent to the lake) to the marvellous set designs and quirky choice in plays this is a wonderful theatre unlike any other in its class. I love the fact that they always have on sale copies of the plays they are showing and other related books.

The seating in the auditorium and small studio are all in good condition (no fraying edges), but specific rows have more leg room than others - it's worth enquiring about this when booking if you're attending with a very tall person.

Look out for the Keswick Film Festival (international films) and Words by the Water (literary festival) at the theatre as these are well worth making time for!

Things to be improved:
- The food and drink at the theatre itself is a little disappointing, and cappuccino is not on offer during intervals (only during quieter periods).
- The car park charges were recently extended into the early evening, making dinner before an evening performance more expensive than it should be...
- Their new 'improved' website is terrible to navigate and makes books season tickets online impossible.

For a nice pre-theatre dinner, try Morrels (a five minute walk through the park from the theatre).

“Great little professional theatre”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

Good location.
Great venue.
Have never been disappointed; having been a number of times over the years from Christmas productions (this seasons Railway Children was perfect) to serious drama.
Food options limited but interval ice-cream always a treat.

“Christmas play”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

My apologies I put the review for this under the wrong heading earlier!!!!
We were staying at the Keswick hotel over Christmas and manage to obtain tickets for the theatre's production of 'The Railway Children'. This is an excellent little theatre( wish we had one in Carlisle) The choice of play was great for family entertainment and we enjoyed the production, amazed when a 'steam train' emerged from the tunnel!!! Well done to everyone including the local children who participated.
