This is the third time we have eaten here. Anyplace can have an "off day", so we peristed. Table dirty and uncleared when we sat down
Waited in a queue to order our meal and in the meanwhile we collected our drinks order- tea for 2. Collected cutlery, although knives not available and sat down. Milk was from a communal milk jug on a small table, so refill required going to the table to get milk.
35 minutes later, 1 sandwich and 2 cold, not even lukewarm soups arrived. These, were literally "dumped" on the table. Had to ask for butter to go with bread that accompanied the soups. Never again.

We usually go to the lakes twice a year and we always try to incorporate an annual trip here. We saw Great Expectation in the main house this time and just loved everything about it.
The venue is gorgeous, the staff friendly and all the productions we have been to have been excellent. A perfect evening after a day in the fells.

We had a wonderful evening watching a production of Alan Bennett's The History Boys. The theatre's location is beautiful, everyone was friendly and helpful and the performance was superb.

We topped off a magical evening by stopping on the way back to look at the stars away from light pollution. Simple pleasures.
