We Will definitely be returning again in the summer had a lovely weekend. The owners are lovely and make you feel very welcome. The hotel is very clean, the sweets in the bed was also a nice touch. The views on a morning from the room are amazing and would love to wake up to that every morning!!

Went for a weekends mountain biking at Whinlatter and Grizedale (which was a bit of a cockup with the Malcolm Wilson car rally !)
Good location, couple of minutes walk into town. Town is busy at night at weekends, you need to book a restaurant if you want to go somewhere in particular.
We ate at 'Woodstone Pizza' and 'Taste the difference' both of which we thought were very good.
We were in Bedroom 3, which was fine but cramped. (but we weren't there to sit in our room all day) Comfortable, clean, and well furnished, thoughtful touches like bathroom 'bits and bobs' !
Our Son was in Rm 6 up in the attic, which again was fine, (although he did joke that he had to open the skylight in he roof to stand at the toilet ! )
Breakfast was very good, above average.
Our hosts were very sociable with what seemed a genuine interest in conversation (not just polite small talk)
They have 2 cats, Wifey is allergic to cats, but they're restricted to where they can go, so this was no problem.
Car park (parking spaces) for 2 cars.
Our bikes had to stay in the open in the yard, shed was too small. This was ok for us but If you needed to clean or work on your bikes over a few days it might be a bit cramped and uncovered.
Haven't been 'the Lakes' for ages. with Wales and Peak's nearer, but had a great weekend so it's back on the menu !

Room Tip: I assume from other reviews that some rooms are bigger that others, this might be worth a bit more...

Thank you for takimg the time to give us a review. Afraid there was not much we could do about the rally and hope it did not spoil your weekend. The room in which you stayed is one of our most popular especially for the views and disappointed you thought it cramped. Next time you might like to try our feature double which is the biggest room in the house complete with King Size bed.
As you discovered for yourelves the town can be quite busy over the weekend so if coming again we would be more than happy to recommend and book a local restaurant.
Hope your son is settling in okay to the routine out in Afghanistan and that you are not worrying about him too much, although that is easier said than done.
We hope we see you again in the future and appreciate all your comments.

Kind Regards. Steve and Heather

Myself and my wife have recently stayed at the Pitcairn House guest house in Keswick for our 4th time. Heather and Steve are most welcoming and make you feel right at home. We stayed in room number 5 again as it's a larger room for two nights (Friday & Saturday). It's in a very central location and only a 5 min walk into Keswick town centre. I'd highly recommend this guest house to others and we'll certainly be staying here again on our next trip to Keswick later on this year. Thanks again Heather & Steve.

It is always a pleasure to welcome back guests and good to know that it feels like home as that is exactly our aim. We have stayed in many guest house ourselves and sometimes only seen the owners at breakfast. Part of the pleaseure of running Pitcairn House is the opportunity for us to meet lots of new people who we hope will enjoy the warm, welcoming, family atmosphere here in our home.
So thank you for the lovely review and hope we see you both again soon.

Kindest regards Steve and Heather

My boyfriend and I stayed here on the 18th February 2013 having read so many great reviews on here! And the B&B certainly lived up to everything we had read. The location was perfect for our plans of walking up Skiddaw during the day and for walking around Keswick the next day. The room was lovely and clean and the bed was very comfortable! The bathroom was also spotless and the shower was the perfect temperature after a days hiking. Heather and Steve were extremely friendly and we were made to feel welcome during our whole stay. The breakfast was really nice with a large selection of hot food, cereals and toasts as well as refills on tea! The B&B is ideally located for being able to wander into Keswick in just a few minutes and also for wandering back after dinner and a pint in the pub. Overall, a lovely stay and would definitely recommend and will hopefully be returning again.

We have stopped in lots of B&B's in Keswick over the last 10 years and have got to say this is best we've stopped in.

The room was modern and clean with great views. The decoration in the room was very stylish and size of the bathroom was excellent.

The owners were extremely friendly, and made us feel very welcome and comfortable.

The breakfast was great. My girlfriend doesn't particularly like a cooked breakfast so it was good to see a great selection of fresh fruit, yogurts and cereals as well as the typical eggs, bacon and sausage.

The B&B does have its own car park, which is very handy. It also is very close to the centre of Keswick.

We will definitely be booking Pitcairn house again!

Thanks
Chris & Nicola

We had a wonderful stay with Heather and Steve in Jan 2013 - we stayed for a wedding and they were perfect hosts. The room was lovely and spotless. The location was great for getting into town and there was parking which made things easier for all the back and forth we needed to help the wedding run smoothly. Breakfast was delicious, had a wide range and portion size requests were met very well.
A little bit more water pressure in the shower would have bumped up to an excellent rating. It was very clean and tastefully decorated and good and hot but not the strongest stream.
Thanks for a lovely stay
