All the other reviews are right - lovely room (no 3); great views; immaculately presented; quiet hotel; made to feel very welcome on arrival; really handy for Keswick centre. We had a great weekend and will definitely be back!

After staying at one of the older (and in need of serious renovation) this hotel has had a recent and very tasteful renovation, which I believe was carried out 2 years ago. Reception was friendly and helpful and we were shown to our room. It was an odd shape due to the on-suite bathroom occupying one corner. It was a twin room with one bed in the main part of the room and another in the alcove by the bathroom. The room was nicely decorated and very clean. A flat screen TV was mounted on the wall, but in a compromise position that was difficult to view. The views from the windows were fabulous. Although the opening pane could not be left in the vent position, it was either closed or sprung fully open.
The bathroom was small, but well fitted out. It was also very clean. A heated towel rain on one wall.
Breakfast was served in the dining room. Plenty of choice of fruits and cereal and a Cumbrian grill of tomato, beans, sausage, egg and bacon.
The only criticism I have of this hotel is that the temperature of the heating system was too high. I turned off the room and bathroom radiator, but it was difficult to sleep due to the high temperature of the room. This was with one window fully open and an outside temperature of about 2 degrees. All landing areas where heated and had closed fire doors.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review, and for the helpful feedback. LakeSide House has had a long and varied history and just over 2 years ago was given the TLC it needed, we're glad you liked the results. As it dates from the Victorian era compromises in the design had to be made, and the L-shaped room was one of them! We have taken your comments regarding the heating on board and will do our best to get it at a level that will suit all our guests, for example fitting further automatic closers to the fire doors to allow for more air circulation.
Regards,
Peter

We stayed at the Lakeside Hotel for 2 nights on the weekend of November 2nd 2012. This place is fabulous, clean, tidy, warm and friendly. It is situated very close to everything, the shops are a couple of mins away as are the bars and resturaunts of Keswick.. Just a 5 min walk in the other direction brings you to the very edge of the stunning Derwent water..
The room (room 11) was stylish and very comfortable with enough space for the two of us to do what we needed to and not get in each others way. The en-suite shower and toilet was lovely, again stylish and modern.
You could hear close by rooms when their shower was running or the flushed the toilet but after all it is an older building so maybe soundproofing isnt as good as a modern hotel.
This never bothered us atall but its worth a mention if your a very light sleeper.
The breakfast room is bright and airy with a great view of the nearby mountains while you enjoy your breakfast of locally sourced produce freshly cooked to order. There was fresh fruits, cereals, yoghurts and juices as well as croissants and other delights.
I enjoyed 2 full cumbrian breakfasts which while very nice could have been larger in portions for me personally.
The service was good and with a smile, nothing was too much trouble for the girls.
Overall we loved our stay at the Lakeside and would happily stay there again without giving it a second thought. So we recommend that you be confident in booking with them as you will enjoy the experience.
Good Times :-)

Room Tip: Room 11 was good for us and would suit younger couples with no children as the 3-4 flights of stairs...

Thank you so much for your review and for some fantastic comments and feedback. At LakeSide House we are so fortunate to be in the location that we are and being so close to the places to eat and also Derwentwater itself. Your feedback regarding the breakfast staff will be fed back and it really helps to hear that we are getting the customer service right. We take on board your point with regards to the breakfast and the portion sizes, and it is something that we do keep a close eye on as we actively try and reduce waste and ensure guests get just the right amount. We look forward to welcoming you back to LakeSide House in the near future.

The house, the room, the breakfast were all amazing, but it was spoiled for my husband and I because we were on the second floor and we are both retirement age. I did ask on booking for a room with not too many stairs, as though we are mobile, we cannot manage too many stairs, but there were 34 up to our room and after negotiating 8 steps up to the front door, we were quite exhausted by the time we reached our room.
However, as previously stated, the hotel is first class and it's location is second to none. Just would ask that the owners mention the number of steps when accepting a booking, I did mention that this holiday was to celebrate our Golden Wedding, so they were quite aware that we were not 'spring chickens'

Room Tip: Ask which floor the room is on.

We stayed at the Lakeside Hotel for a wedding and arrived late on Friday night. We stayed in a family room on the top floor, room 12, which was perfect for families with small children. The room is stylish, very light, very spacious with fantastic views, would highly recommend this room. Breakfasts were lovely catered for all tastes and very filling, nothing was too much trouble. Hotel is close to the Lake, the theare and golf course. Loved the hotel and would love to stay again.

Room Tip: tThe suite in Room no 12 is perfect for small children, they have a room to themselves but it is con...

Really enjoyed our two night stay this week. Our first Trip to the Lake District for a much needed break was a delight, LakeSide House was perfect, situated in the best location with easy access to shops, bars and Derwent water Wonderfully clean, Fabulous bed (I Need memory foam mattress now!!) Stayed in room 11, very quiet and relaxing. Lovely hot shower, modern decor with excellent facilities. The Breakfast was divine, My husband doesn't eat bacon but enjoyed it so much he ate the lot and is still going on about it, needless to say he didn't share!! Attentive and polite staff made us feel very welcome. An excellent choice for Lake District Virgins.

Now you've discovered the Lake District we hope you'll be back again - there is so much to discover here. Get right into the heart of the fells: there are walks to suit everyone right from the door. We'll set you up with a hearty breakfast and you'll definitely sleep well after all the exercise, especially with the memory foam underneath you!

We have stayed here 3 times now and cannot fault the place. Very contemporary decor throughout unlike most of the other hotels in Keswick which are old fashioned and tired. Fantastic rooms and amazing breakfast, cannot wait to go again.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a fell view room, views are amazing

Thanks for the great review, it is always good to welcome back guests. We agree, the fell views are astounding - at this time of year particularly so with the beautiful autumn colours. We hope to see you again soon.
