I visited Keswick with a friend on the Sunday after Christmas , a sunny but cold day. After a walk around we were in need of a cup of tea and a cake and from across the road we saw the shop Temporary Measures which advertised a cafe as well as the shop. Inside was an eclectic mix of Lloyd loom chairs and coffee tables just waiting for someone to sit down and drink tea! There were a few groups in already but we were able to bag a couple of chairs and ordered sticky toffee cake and a scone with Earl Grey tea. It came on delicate china and was delicious.Looking around the shop there were fabulous prints on the wall for sale and books and cards a bit different from the norm. What really held our interest were the knitted toys and baby bootees and shoes as we have a grandchild on the way. They could either be bought ready knitted or in kit form which include needles wool, stuffing, buttons etc. We purchased a kit of each. The wool is available in many colours and the owner was very obliging as we wanted to get colours for either sex of baby not blue or pink! She was very helpful and when I said I had never knitted on four needles before said I could ring her mum and she would talk me through it! How kind is that?! We can't wait to get started on the projects and hope to return to the shop soon.
