“Great Food”
Reviewed November 17, 2012

We visited here on a Saturday night without a booking and were pleased the staff were able to fit us in. The restaurant had a lovely ambiance and staff were very pleasant. My starter of smoked salmon pasta was huge and could have been a main, my husband had to help with it so I could enjoy my main course. Our only fault was having to wait a really long time after the starter, so long in fact the waitress apologised twice, I thought they had forgotten us. There is an excellent choice with a good wine selection too. Needless to say neither of us could manage dessert. Well worth a visit.

“Awful”
Reviewed November 10, 2012 via mobile

Food was not good, pollo pizza had packet chicken on it, sea bass was over cooked and small portion, rosti that sea bass sat on was very over cooked, to point of being like shoe leather. Mussels in cream sauce for starter was full of broken mussel shells, so were crunchy and impossible to eat. Do not even bother going only 2 more tables in on a Saturday night. Very over priced for quality of food and lack of atmosphere

“Truly excellent”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Last thursday our family of four enjoyed a meal at Luca's. It was a busy evening but the staff were friendly and efficient. Over a relaxing drink in the bar we were able to take out time choosing from the extensive menu and selecting a suitable Italian (of course!) wine from the also extensive wine list to accompany the meal.

The atmosphere in the restaurant itself was lively, friendly and relaxed, the service attentive and the food itself was memorable for all of us. Highlights for me were the goat cheese in Parma ham and the tasty tender rib-eye steak. Other notable dishes were the misco pesce and the Caesar salad.

The bill was reflective of the quality of the offering and on a par with the Lake District's better restaurants. I hope it will not be long before we pay a return visit.

“Good food and service”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

Not really a very authentic Italian feel, but the menu was varied enough. Our food was good and the service friendly and efficient. I had figs with gorgonzola and parma ham to start, which was a novel idea but could have been warmer, my wife had a special prawns and chorizo which seemed to work quite well. For mains we had seabass, which was an excellent size and very well cooked, nice and crispt skin really soft fish, the dressing that accompanied it did not really seem to go though and risked spoiling a very well prepared fish and fillet steak Italien, which I must admit was the best steak I have had in a very long time, very very tender, tasty and cooked as ordered, We we too full for desert. £80 including drinks, which we didnt think was bad at all for the food and service. Wasnt too busy when we were there so this may help the service. We would return.

“Good high quality Italian”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

Perhaps slightly more expensive than some Italian places in the town but well worth it for a special meal.

Imaginitive meals and the wild boar ragout is a winner!

Great service and you feel you've had something special.
