“Excellent Guesthouse in Keswick”
Reviewed May 30, 2014

Stayed here for a couple of nights and couldn't fault anything about it . Peter was very welcoming , even though we arrived a wee bit earlier than expected . Every thing about The Salisbury was first class , the room we had (room 3) was very large , had a sofa and had great views of the hills too !!! . Breakfast was excellent and there was a vast amount of local info on hand , and DVDs . Peter was an excellent host , nothing seemed to much trouble , had lots of local knowledge and the recommendations for things to do and places to eat were spot on.
Would recommend The Salisbury for a visit to Keswick.

We have stayed in many B and Bs in the Lakes over the years and this one is right up there with the best. A lovely warm welcome after our long car journey was a great start and it just got better. Peter is great for advise and they have walking maps you can borrow. Our room was very comfortable and spotless with lovely towels. Breakfast is another highlight and we are already planning our next visit. Would recommend to anyone.

We have been walking and hiking in the Lake District for some 25 years and stayed in many bed and breakfast establishments mainly within in the Keswick area. They say you pay your money and you make your choice, well we hit the jack pot. This is reflected in our returning visits to Salisbury House, and testament to the very high standards both Peter and Alex have set for their guests to expect and enjoy whilst in their care. They really are the perfect hosts we stayed with them recently over the bank holiday at a busy peak time, and we are always astonished how everything is always spot on. Time and attention to detail down to the minute your breakfast will arrive on your table, the quality of the food is amazing. The black pudding as far as my hubby is concerned is iconic Peter and Alex only use local quality produce. Peter shared the way Alex lovingly cooks it to perfection, and it must be a passion to put in that amount of effort to make it as my hubby put it" a little piece of heaven on a plate!". Whether you want to bag one of the many high peaks or want a peaceful stroll, Peter's extensive knowledge and advice will prove invaluable to your itinerary. So for all you Lake District lovers that want a little piece of Lakeland bliss! pack up the car get on your boots choose Keswick but more importantly choose The Salisbury House.

Looking forward to staying with you both again.

Dear Alan and Debbie. The biggest compliment you give us is your multiple visits to Salisbury House so a big thank you for that. It is also really nice for us to welcome back familiar faces as it adds to the relaxed vibe we aim for. The detailed review you have given is really appreciated and we really look forward to seeing you again on your next soulmate walking visit. Best wishes from Peter and Alex. Black pudding anyone? :-)

Good location a few minutes walk from the centre of Keswick. Free parking on the street outside. Highlight is Peters knowledge of the area and his suggestions for walks, drives, eating establishments etc that suits both the weather and his customers needs or abilities. Free WiFi with a strong signal. Good selection of guide books and maps that can be borrowed to make walking in the area easy. All in all highly recommended as a great place to stay.

We stayed in the Salisbury for three nights over the bank holiday and I can say for certain that this B&B is head and shoulders above the competition. Peter is a perfect host, very thoughtful, knowledgeable and attentive. He provided us with a free upgrade after an arduous 8 hour journey, making us feel very welcome even at the late hour on which we arrived. The owners' attention to detail is second to none and the accommodation is modern, immaculately clean and well equipped with maps, DVD and books of the area all free of use to the guests. Peter and Alex have a real passion for what they do and for the Lakes and we will undoubtedly return if not just to receive another free departure day treat :-) Gavin & Karolina

Dear Gavin and Karolina. Thank you for your lovely review and for choosing to stay with us in the first place. With the level of activity you guys did when you were here I think you deserved the extra comfort of room 3! We hope the journey home was a lot easier than your journey here and we look forward to seeing you in the future. Peter and Alex

Yet another enjoyable stay at short notice for a may bank holiday break.
Once again a very warm welcome.
Standards still kept - the owners are very proud of their establishment and living in the Lake District.
Nothing is too much trouble for these hosts.
Thank you for the extra black pudding gift - my Husband is still raving about the quality breakfast ingredients!
Just wish I could cook and prepare breakfast as well as Alex!

In the short time Peter and Alex have ran this guest house they have excelled as hosts.

Your Trip Advisor 2014 excellence award is richly deserved - Well Done!

Firstly we would like to say thank you for your lovely words and are so pleased you enjoyed your stay so much with us. (We must admit to being a bit disappointed in being marked down in your overall rating but you can't win them all!) We strive to make ensure each and every guest makes the most of what we offer here and also what Keswick and the local area offers and it is lovely to see returning guests and familiar faces. Best regards, Peter and Alex.

We found the place very very welcoming. So comfortable but without being in one's face. The guys have a fantastic knowledge of not only what;s going on but more importantly with their locale, Breakfast was a joy with Alex in the engine room and Peter front of house. We will look forward to returning and as a result we are thinking of switching our allegiance from Ambleside to Keswick.

A huge thank you for taking the time to review us and we are so pleased you both had a good time in Keswick. It makes absolute sense to switch your allegiance away from Ambleside but then we may be a bit Keswick biased! Hope to see you both again soon. Alex and Peter
