“Nice B&B in good location”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

The B&B is a short walk to the town and close to all amenities. The room we got was #7 and it was a really good size. The bathroom was a good size also and everything was very clean. The bed was a bit hard to sleep on though and I woke up a few times because of it. The decor was tasteful and tea/coffee provided in room. Shower was very clean with space, and the owner was friendly and left you to your own devices. Very pleasant stay overall. I did keek my head in an open room door and saw that the room we had was much bigger. Parking in the area is a bit tight, but we were lucky to get a spot on the same street. Would recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Room #7 was very big.

We stayed here in April and on arriving it was a nightmare getting parked. You have to ring the hotel owners to move the husbands van so that you can park outside the hotel. Although it was Easter Sunday when we arrived. On first impressions the hotel is lovely from the front, but on stepping inside it is very dated. The couple who own it are lovely though and it is obvious they put a lot of hard work into running it. The big down side of this hotel is that the rooms were very dated and the looked like we had gone back to the 80s. We stay in the lake district quite a lot and have to say that this was the worst for decor and for bathroom facilities. We stayed in room 7, which has fantastic views of the mountain. However I found our room a bit depressing. It has dark chocolate brown feature wallpaper behind the bed, with yellow pine furniture, peach carpet and green patterned bedding. I think the owners should maybe take it off the books for a couple of days and tone everything down and make it a bit more neutral. There is nothing wrong with the furniture, but they could make it such a lovely airy room by going for some creams and softer colours. The shower did not work while we were there and I nearly got locked in the bathroom, as the lock did not work. The big Plus things about this place is that the food is excellent and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. They were also very friendly and informative about what was going on in the area. It is so central to the town centre. It was very reasonable and I suppose in fairness we only got what we paid for.

Room Tip: I did not see the others, but think that a quick makeover could do wonders.

A charming, old fashioned but recently refurbished, guest house in a good location. Room (#4, double + single family room) very nice, we used the en suite bathroom as a fridge to store milk overnight but to be fair it was well below zero outside, and the bedroom was toasty. Hosts delightful and full of recommendations for outings.

Very friendly, room better than expected, nothing to much trouble. Would visit again, worth a stay. Watch out for parking though as can be tricky! Breakfast is spot on and massages on offer. Keswick town centre not far and a good choice of eateries nearby. Watch my other reviews.

What great B&B. Great hosts and A really nice place. They are very good at both making you feel at home and giving you tips on bike routes and walks and also with watersports. They have space to store your expensive kit overnight so that it's safe too. That and the typical Cumbrian breakfast make this really good value for money.

An excellent B&B very near the heart of Keswick. A superb 'full English' breakfast - worth the £30 per night alone! The owner is extremely helpful and guided us to the best biking roads in the area. Free broadband. Great location, a few minutes walk takes you to Keswick town centre.
Biker friendly!
