“Brilliant 'Dog Friendly' Hotel fully recomended.”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

This is just a great hotel in a great location. We chose this Hotel because it accepted dogs, but whether you were travelling with dogs or not this is a lovely hotel. The location is excellent right next to Derwent Water with excellent walks from the hotel. The staff were really polite, friendly, and helpful.
For those travelling with dogs you can take them into the bar at night and even take them along to breakfast and for your evening meal. Don'y worry for none dog lovers there was a totally separate bar and a lovely conservatory. A very nice touch were the numerous bird feeders dotted around the edge of the conservatory so you could sit at breakfast and enjoy watching the birds feed. Food was good, excellent breakfast.
No negatives to report at all, I would really recommend this hotel, very relaxing and we would certainly return.

We have just had a wonderful week at this Hotel. It is the first review that I would give full marks too. Staff are lovely and very helpful, very attentive without being pushy. Room very clean and lovely views over the lake, room 25. Food was lovely, we had the DBB deal, no restrictions on the evening menu only had to pay £2.50 supplement for the sirloin steak, nothing else at all. I would have no hesitation to recommend this hotel. Beautiful walks around and easy access to the lakes.

Room Tip: Room 25 had views of lake and was lovely

We stayed here a few weeks ago and really enjoy our visit including a walk up Catbells. The location of this hotel and proximity to the lakeside boat is great. We were however disappointed with our evening meal. My fish in particulary was over cooked and not so good. Our rooms were extrememly clean but without much of a view as we were on the ground floor of the new annex. A nice breakfast and pleasant staff. We did enjoy our stay.

Not really sure why our rooms were more expensive that those being advertised on an sandwich board outside the hotel?

We took my parents for Fathers day and it was very nice. The hotel has a very nice conservatory which has two tiers overlooking Derwentwater. You can also sit outside in the gardens with the same views. All our meals where very nice and the staff very friendly and attentive. Give it a try if you are in the Keswick area its about 3 miles out of Keswick on the East side of the lake going towards Borrowdale.

Room Tip: Reserve a window table in the Conservatory restaurant

Situated right on the lakeside with beautiful views. Boat stop literally 2 mins walk from hotel where a boat can be taken into keswick (or other landings) its a nice walk back from keswick right round the edge of the lake. We took our two dogs to the hotel who were made very welcome and they are allowed in the small lounge where you can order food and breakfast to if you dont wish to leave them in uour room. There is also a lovely outside area which is lovely to sit at of an evening, taking in the views. Room was small but ample and clean and had a view of the lake ( room 1) staff were all nice and friendly. Evening menu food was lovely. Only disappointment was the breakfast, the choice was very limited and beans always cold for some reason. Bacon and sausage good quality though. All in all a great stay and reasonably priced, bonus that dogs stay free as they are often charged for.

This is the third time we have been and we have never been disappointed.... Each time it has been for a meal at lunch time and each time we have had a great value meal, and been greeted by friendly staff.

Coupled with a spectacular view, I know we will be back time and time again...

We returned to this hotel for a light lunch on our walk around Derwent water . Its the first hotel you come to as you walk from Keswick and provides everything from a cup of tea/ coffee for walkers to lunch . We had sandwiches and tea and the portions were large as well as very tasty ! we sat outside on the terrace and enjoyed the lovely views . Nice place to chill out and good quality/value for money
