Stayed here 21 December with our dog. Dog friendly accommodation separate to the hotel which is great. Room really big and cosy. We stayed bed, breakfast and dinner. The food was fab. You could pick anything from the menu. I had greek salad to start, trout and Eton mess to finish. Chips are yummy and they done the salad different which was nice. They had sweet beetroot and boiled potatoes with a mustardy sauce. Really different to the boring salad. Breakfast the next morning was great, asking if we wanted more tea and toast. The bar is nice and cosy and the restaurant is really nice and relaxing as is the other seating areas. In all the places we have stayed I have never come across such a friendly helpful team of staff. Usually you will have at least one not so happy staff member. Not here everyone was happy and friendly. Could only stay one night due to work but will definitely go back very soon, we loved it

We arrived for a December 5 day mid week winter break - the room, which was in the new annex was beautifully appointed with a fabulous view across Derwentwater. The food was good and with very generous portions from a slightly limited menu but was none the less very enjoyable. The service was first rate and the staff helpful. The bar was well stocked and the public areas comfortable and tastefully appointed - the log fire was most welcoming on a wet December day! Good Wi-Fi but no phone coverage on our network (Orange/EE). Handy location for the Theatre in Keswick (10 mins by car). Thoroughly enjoyable stay and good value for money.

Just returned from a lovely weekend at the Mary Mount Hotel. We stayed in room 38 which is in the new annex. It was a beautiful, spotlessly clean and spacious room with great views over Derwent Water. This a a gorgeous hotel with a very chilled atmosphere, the staff are great and keen to make sure everything is in place to ensure you have a great stay. There is a well stocked bar and you can enjoy a drink in the bar area beside a real fire or sit next to the restaurant area on comfy chesterfields looking out over the lake. We ate both nights in the restaurant and although more pub food than restaurant quality, it was plentiful and tasty. Breakfast was equally generous with locally sourced produce. As mentioned in other reviews the water pressure for the shower meant it occasionally went cold mid shower but that is just a little niggle. We will definitely be returning in the springtime

Room Tip: The rooms in the new annex are gorgeous although it does mean you have to walk to the restaurant, th...

As a regular business traveller, it was great to find a prime sited Lakes hotel at a business traveller's budget. The winter midweek offer was excellent. Room is compact double, plenty of room for 1 with a double bed. Very comfortable sleep. The only niggles in the room are the very poor shower pressure and only one usable plug, so I had a choice: kettle, tv, charge mobile or use lap top. This is actually a more irritating problem than it sounds - to get a hot drink I needed to turn the tv off! I could not charge my mobile at all.
The breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked. For a business traveller 8am is probably a little late but for most Lakes visitors I am sure it is fine.
The hotel is slightly old fashioned and very characterful but very clean indeed, comfortable, welcoming, warm, quiet and has absolutely spectacular views to die for. Nice little touches like the bird feeders outside the breakfast window, red squirrels in the grounds and a warm welcome in certain areas for well-behaved dogs are all great.
However the outstanding and friendly welcome from staff, the owner and everyone I met in the bar was second to none and for that reason alone a winter break here with husband and dog, and many more business visits are definitely on the cards. Will definitely visit again and highly recommend for value for money, spectacular location and very warm welcome.

We know and visit the lakes a lot and this was the first to this hotel. We were in the new part which was excellent. Lovely views and good and generous food ! Staff really attentive and good beer for me ! Bit funny having no phone in the room and with no mobile reception felt a bit out of touch but maybe that's a good thing ??? Beautiful spot and we thought reasonable rates and reasonable food and wine prices.

Room Tip: New building was good.

Stayed here for a weekend in late October. Lovely room with 2 windows providing fab views of Skiddaw and Catbells. Spankinly clean, and comfortable family owned hotel. Food was fresh local produce, with very generous helpings! Excellent deal. A little bit short of 'atmosphere at times, and staff appeared a little 'keen to get cleared up and off'?? Will stay here again.

The Mary Mount Hotel has a truly spectacular location overlooking Derwentwater. The hotel allowed us to take our West Highland Terrier and all three of us had a wonderful weekend. Dog owners were in a separate annexe and this seemed to work well for everyone. Our room had a wonderful view looking towards the lake and the mountains beyond. The dining room also had wonderful views with breakfast being substantial with some variety. My wife enjoyed her dinner (beef) and my trout was fresh and cooked to my liking. The bar closed at 11pm, which was late enough for us. The staff were helpful and friendly. There are some wonderful walks possible from the hotel and we also enjoyed travelling from the jetty adjacent to the hotel on one of the lake launches to Keswick. Our room was clean and well furnished. We would go back again when time allows.
