We have made numerous visits to Appletrees and find everything about this B&B wonderful.
The owners are extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful
The house itself is well decorated and spotless from top to bottom, the rooms are spacious and comfortable with superb views.
Loads of choices for breakfast which is well cooked, plentiful and of very good quality.
Just a couple of minutes pleasant stroll into Keswick town centre makes Appletrees the perfect place to stay whilst visiting the lakes, we look forward to returning.

The most unwelcoming guest house i have ever stayed in! The only good point was the location and view from the window..We were billed after we left for 'damage' to the room..( A small amount of curry sauce spilt on a seat cover ) The bill.....£60!!!!!! What a joke..Does it really cost that much for dry cleaning? I think not!! They could have replaced the piece of sponge cushion and the cover for a fraction of that...

Would i recommend? NEVER!!

During this guest's stay, We were up early to provide cereals, juices, toast and hot drinks 1 hour before the set breakfast time. We provided storage for their golf clubs. Dealt with complaints about noise from the group at night without taking actions against them. We were courteous and friendly with them at all times. From our perspective a friendly and helpful approach. After the guests left we discovered the stained seat which had been turned over to hide the stain. Despite all of our efforts we could not remove the stain and have had to replace both the seat and cover. Our terms and conditions, which they were aware of before making the booking, clearly cover these situations.

Stayed for one night at the Appletrees whilst visiting Keswick. Rooms were spotless and the breakfast was very nice. Nice place overall and would recommend. Only (small) issue we had was that the shower was not very powerful.

Arrived at location which had been prebooked entered from the rear entrance due to car parking. We were shown to our room in which the view of the Derwent water and the fells were partly obscured by a set of large ladders.

As we had travelled most of the day we were tried and made ourselves a drink and had a chat. We decided to ask the landlady if the ladders could be removed as the view was very much obscured and not at all what we expected. We were informed that there was work going on but no workmen were seen at all that day.

We asked if the ladder could be moved to one side, pulled down or an alternative room be offered. We were told that other occupants had not complained and that we were being difficult and should accept the room as is. At this point we asked for a refund of the two night fee we had paid (£140 cash) for which no receipt had been offered to us.

We were told because we had been in the room for a short while that we couldn't have our money back and after some discussion it was suggested that we could leave but the charge of £70 would be deducted for our short stay.

We agreed to stay for the one night and leave in the morning. On leaving in the morning to add insult to injury the landlady charged us an extra £6 for a one night stay with no apology for our inconvience. We had intended on staying in Keswick over the full weekend but i have to say that we were so upset by the overall situation that we travelled home in the morning.

As we often frequent B&Bs and hotels in various places we were quite shocked at the unfriendly treatment and the unwillingness to resolve the situation by the landlady basically were made the feel that it was our problem.

Very disappointed.
