“Via Ferrata was great”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

We took a group of 12 explorer scouts on the via ferrata (not the extreme one) They all had a fantastic time and our instructor Steve (or Stevo) was great in making sure that they all enjoyed themselves with an appropriately dry sense of humour. We (some of us anyway) may be back to do the extreme via ferrata.

“Fantastic day out”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

My husband and I were the only people on the via Ferrata trip, and both thoroughly enjoyed it.

The guide was excellent, very informative and supportive when my vertigo took over.

We have previously done the mine visit and enjoyed that as well.

“Great time”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

Went with my younger brother on the Via Ferrata extreme . It's the 3rd one we've done and by far the most scarey . The instructor was excellent and gave us a lot of confidence. It took around 2hours so not bad for the money. If you want to be scared shitless but safe give it a go . We will be back for the forth phase if they make it.

“Fascinating tour and spectacular views.”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

We loved this. The views were spectacular, & would have been even more stunning if the weather had obliged, but I suppose you can't have everything.
We arrived a little early, so took time to warm up with a cuppa in the excellent cafe and visit the very smart "facilities" before the tour began.
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour around the mine, which was informative, interesting and also thought provoking. ( It's quite chilly down in the mine, so be sure to put on an extra layer or two before you take this tour) Top marks to the tour -guide, and to all who helped to make this such a great experience. We were very interested in their innovative plans for the future of the slate mine, and would love to see the results.
Coming out at the top of the mine was a bit of a shock for me as I don't do heights well.... but even hugging the mountain I was able to enjoy a spectacular view. We were allowed to bring home a small piece of slate from the mountain as souvenir of our visit.
The Honister slate is lovely, and we bought several beautifully crafted items from the shop. Would have bought more if our budget had permitted!

“Very interesting ”
Reviewed October 1, 2013 via mobile

Very interesting, I found the facts fascinating. Good facilities on site too the cafe smelt good, but we didn't partake as we had brought lunch. Toilets were clean and very posh. We then walked up to the old quary which was very steep but worth it, there is an old miners cottage up there and the views were sensational.
