We attended a family wedding at the end of July 2012.
The wedding was held in the reception area with the grand staircase.
The sizeable dining room comforatably accommodated all the guests in style. The meal was professionally served & was of a high quality.
My partner has gluten intolerance and the staff could not have been more helpful. They had specially prepared a gluten free meal for her. When we asked about gluten content for the evening buffet, they knew exactly which items were gluten free, and which were not. They even went to the trouble to put together a gluten free platter just for us.
Other reviews mention the rather run-down state of the hotel, but this should not be an issue. All of the public areas were clean & tidy.
The building does need work, and it's up to us to use this gem in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, so they can keep the place open & look at refurbishment. It would be such a shame if people were put off by a couple of negative reviews.
The room prices should suit most pockets. Although we did not stay at the hotel overnight, comments by those that did were positive.More
