“Perfect getaway! ”
Reviewed November 2, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

4 adults and 2 children were in our group and this cottage is a hidden gem.
The location is stunning on a quiet country lane, walk out of the door and you are surrounded by beautiful views in all directions, with some lovely walks around the lanes.
Catherine has thought of everything and has put in some perfect finishing touches - a larder of small food items, games for the kids (which they loved) and even footwear to get to the hot tub and back!
The hot tub is out of this world and a perfect addition to this cottage. Nothing nicer than sitting in a secluded hot tub at night time and gazing at the beautiful sky and even managing to see some shooting stars!
This cozy little cottage is stunning and even with 6 of us it never felt cramped.
All the beds were wonderfully comfortable, including the pull out sofa bed in the living room. The log burner made it perfect for the evenings after getting out of the hot tub.

I cannot speak highly enough about this cottage and would not think twice about booking again. Catherine, the owner, is soooo helpful and lovely also.

“What a gem!”
Reviewed September 29, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Having just returned from this beautiful cottage, we cannot recommend it highly enough. It's location is a wonderfully peaceful country lane with outstanding views. The cottage itself is fully equiped with everything you could possibly need to make your stay comfortable and hassle free.

The owner, Catherine, has catered for every need and nothing is too much trouble. We had a small query during our stay and this was resolved effectively and efficiently.

Overall, we were delighted with our choice of cottage and would certainly recommend this as a great place to stay when visiting the Lake District.

“Relaxing bliss!”
Reviewed August 17, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Had a wonderful, relaxing week in the cottage. The cottage was so comfortable and well equipped it was hard to leave, wish we had a fortnight there! Catherine has thought of so many extras and details that add to a lovely holiday. The bonus of a secluded hot tub is an amazing experience, will never forget two nights of shooting stars that we witnessed from there. Would thoroughly recommend to others and would definitely rebook.

“Relaxing and Cody”
Reviewed August 9, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Lovely homely, cosy cottage provided a very relaxed holiday. Excellent location, near M6 , and easy travelling to the lakes which meant we didn't have to do too much driving once there. No need to even leave the property, lovely garden and hot tub and everything you could need in the cottage including board games and DVDs , local walks also .
Would recommend national trust membership, lots of great properties nearby and free parking in national trust car parks. Oxenholme station only a few miles away, would recommend day trip to Edinburgh only 2 hours ( buy advance tickets for cheap day out ! ) . Would also recommend Fell foot (NT), gummers how, sizergh castle(NT), hill top ( Beatrix potters house NT), langdales, sticklebarn (NT),Allan bank (NT) ...... All very nearby .
Catherine a great host , makes sure everything is as it should be for a stress free holiday ! Thoroughly recommend this property !

“homely, comfortable, peaceful.. Perfect!”
Reviewed June 29, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

The cottage is very homely, cosy and very comfortable.. The kitchen is very well equipped, and so staying in for an evening meal cooking with fresh local produce was more appealing than dinning out!. The location is so peaceful and relaxing, the hot tub in the garden is just the icing on the cake, sitting in there with a glass of fizz having explored the lake district in the daytime, is so nice ! Even if you think that you won't use the hot tub, you'll use it once and soon be hooked! The location is good as not very far from Kendal, and not far from the M6. We have spent a lovely week in this cottage, and are now feeling relaxed and batteries recharged!!.Highly recommended..

“Perfection”
Reviewed June 15, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Catherine has been wonderful in her approach to the rental of Holmescales which is always the first hurdle. Once we had arrived, we found the cottage to be exactly as described and Catherine continued to be helpful and fountain of local knowledge. The cottage itself is very comfortable and clean. A bit of a whizz in the kitchen, it was nice to find properly stocked cupboards with all required utensils along with clean, modern and easy to use appliances. Hot water a plenty, with a lovely bath and shower. The real treat to Holmescales is the Hot Tub and views from it. Easy to use, warm and spacious, it really sets Holmescales apart from the competition. Our stay was truly wonderful and we will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely time.
