“High tea in Cumbria at Bridge End.”

This was where we stopped after a visit to the Holker Hall and Gardens and it was a great plac to stop with our group of friends from Roberton by Biggar, Scotland. We had pre-ordered our entrees so it was a nice stop without much fuss. I had a lovely ale from the bar and my fish and chips were excellent. My wife had a cream mushroom dish that she enjoyed and the group were happy and excited about it all. The cakes and tea/coffer followed which were marvelous to see on the multilayered plates.

We recommend this facility to those who enjoy an unpretentious stop where the people are friendly and the food is tasty.

“Beware”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2013

This was our second visit for a meal . First one was spot on . Excellent . Second visit was a different matter . Ourselves ( 4 ) and two other couples already eating . Bar person seemed ok took our order and while we were waiting a conversation started with the barman taking centre stage . Football to start with( MUFC had just won the league ) and he was very happy about this as was our friend who is a supporter . Other bits of small talk and then where are you from ? All this in a open conversation across the whole bar area followed with his response that it was full of Scousers there and he hated them . WHAT? Not just once did he state this fact but many times till he eventually asked if any of us were from that area. Yes myself and another couple .Most uncomfortable situation and unwarrented . Our friend said he was a absolute disgrace and regardless of his feelings he should have kept them to himself . Bottom line we will never go there again nor the other older couple ( who were returning visitors ) . SO BE AWARE IF YOU VISIT THIS PUB AND ARE FROM THE MERSEYSIDE AREA THERE IS A LOT OF ANIMOSITY THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BAR . BE WARNED . Oh I almost forgot the food was crap. True.
