Lovely surroundings, clean and tidy. Good range of foods and drinks. Excellent service from friendly staff. Best carrot cake ever tasted- light, tasty, perfect topping not too sweet- highly recommended! Will be back, only the first of our visits.

We saw the 2 Sisters Cafe on Tripadvisor, so decided to go there for breakfast on our way to the Lakes. The breakfast was very good, the sister who served us very friendly, and the cafe very comfortable with a lovely ambiance. So much so we decided to have lunch here on the return journey and, although we missed the turning, turned around and went back.
The lunch was equally good. When we arrived the cafe was completely full but luckily we got a table quickly. Some people were disappointed. No doubt in the summer the outside tables will solve this problem.
The food is really good, especially the cakes! Everything is home made and the staff work incredibly hard to provide a good quality experience. They deserve to do very well.
An added bonus is that there is also a farm shop with very good quality produce to take home with you, or buy on the way to your holiday cottage.

Had homemade pea & ham soup, and hot chocolate with cream, marshmallows & flake the best hot chocolate ive had the whole weekend (i dont drink tea or coffee) so im a bit fussy

The lovely 2 Sisters cafe at Plumgarth is run by two sisters Monika & Magda. Its a little eating place 'hidden' away on a very busy route.

The interior is modern with the popular trendy eclectic mixture of soft sofas and rustic wooden tables and chairs. I love big the 'exploded' clock on the main wall (have a look if you go). Small inside but very cosy. It is a classic family cafe offering drinks and bites with homemade snacks like savoury pancakes and paninis. They don't do sandwiches. They do 'artisan rolls'. The bacon rolls were popular when I was there (and smelled good). The breakfast sounded good and will have that next time I go. This visit it was coffee and cake. A fantastic slice of homemade plum cake, coffee was in a large mug (none of that tiny cup nonsense). The other had the soup of the day with bread which was described as delicious and filling. All very good quality.

A nice place to relax and read the papers and latest magazines that are freely available. There is a small but well stocked farm shop just next door if you want to take home some food. A nice welcome and really friendly staff. Great place to stop for a coffee on the way from , or to the Lakes

A perfect little cafe just outside Kendal. Great place to stop for lunch or afternoon tea. Super home made food and well presented. The pea and ham soup was particularly good ! Coffee and hot chocolate a speciality and not to be missed are the cakes ! (if you ve room ! ) Very clean and very comfortable. There is a small farm shop selling local meat, and other produce, ideal if you are stopping on the way to the Lakes for a holiday !!
