“Best coffee for miles”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2013

We visit often. It is our favourite coffee stop in the world. Food is great too. Fresh & locally sourced. Monika & Magda are a delight. Always smiling & attentive. Free parking & conveniently placed a couple of hundred yards from the main road to Windermere from M6 at Junction 36.

“As convenient as a service station, but so much better inside!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2013

I wonder how many motorists whizz round the Plumgarth's roundabout on the A591 on their way to the Windermere and the Lakes, without realising they are literally one minute away from this lovely little haven of peace and high quality food.

We stopped here for coffee on a snowy January morning. Inside, the two sisters (yes, they are real people - it's not a brand name!) were welcoming; the decor was fresh, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. It was hard to choose from the selection of tray bakes on offer, but we can recommend the tiffin and the carrot cake... we were also tempted to ditch our packed lunch and take some filled rolls away with us instead...

Thoroughly recommended either for a leisurely meal or for a quick 'pit stop' as you zoom past. You won't regret it.

“Morning Tea/Coffee”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013

Lovely Stop - Well organised, artistic yet relaxed setting, very warm.
Quality Tea/Coffee and excellent cake/scones. Bacon rolls looked great from a distance!!
Worth the stop - just off the Kendal - Windermere Road.

“Superb Afternoon Tea”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2012

There’s a wonderfully large car park (free) so parking won’t be a problem, I’d like to say this place isn’t too busy and it isn’t during these autumn/winter months, during the summer though it is rather a popular place for the older generation. The café is small and doesn’t have too many chairs/tables. Towards the till there are some very comfy sofas with a table that are probably the best seats in the house, especially on a rainy day when you just want to flop with a cup of tea and piece of cake. Lakeland radio is playing softly in the background parping out its usual 70s hits, lakeland radio itself is located in the building opposite, so a slightly odd feeling to know that what you’re hearing is actually taking place next door. There are a couple of seats outside, but not many.

stopped off on rainy (as per) day and sampled their savoury pancakes, which whilst a little pricey was very tasty and fresh. Clearly they specialise in the Afternoon Teas though, I've had quite a few friends recommend we pop in to try them out. (pics included)

So we did! and we weren't disapointed. As I'm a Vegetarian they were more than happy to make a veggie sandwich selection for me. The staff here are fantastic! The afternoon tea comes to about £9.50, and for that you get tea or coffee, a selection of sandwiches, a huge scone with jam/clotted cream and finally your choice of cake - portions are all very generous and dependant on which cake you pick you will either save about 50p getting afternoon tea, or break even.

The staff are very friendly, the food is wonderful, atmosphere is calm and relaxed, the prices are a little on the pricey side so that might stop regular visits but overall Its definitely a place I’ll be going back to. Probably the next time we fancy afternoon tea I expect. Looking forward to our next visit. The café is attached to their farm shop so you could always stop off in there for some local cheese and other food; again a little pricey though.
