What a great place to stay! Our room (Blue Violet) was perfectly clean and had picture postcard views across the valley and added bonus of homemade cookies on arrival too!

A sound nights sleep with lots of fresh air and the window open - to the boyf's annoyance I didn't even pull the curtains as I love it when the sun streams into a room in the morning and you can hear all the birds singing. Nice hot shower with lovely products (which they also sell downstairs in the dining room but not in a pushy way!)

Breakfast was five star delicious - the greek yoghurt with honey, compote and homemade granola pots were wonderful, there was freshly squeezed orange juice, a choice of cooked breakfasts, and fresh coffee! Perfect to set you up for a day exploring - plus the individually wrapped pieces of cake by the door were perfect to take as a mid morning treat! We stayed here for two nights but would have loved to have stayed longer. If anything just to see what brekkie and cakes would be on offer on the following day!

We didn't spend much time in the guest lounge but it was full or quirky photography books and nice things - right up our street. And we discovered pots of sweets on the mantle which is a big thumbs up for the sweet toothed other half!

We were looking for a nice, slightly trendy place to stay but without a big budget, initially we were a bit anxious about a B&B as previous experiences have been a bit fuddy-duddy but this was really brilliant. Could not recommend highly enough - there were so many lovely touches like the flowers in the room and on the breakfast tables. It was excellent and represented brilliant value for money, really hope to stay there again.

Room Tip: The 'Blue Violet' room is at the front of the house and has stunning views!

Thanks so much for leaving us a glowing and detailed review - much appreciated! Glad you enjoyed all our little bits and bobs - we enjoy providing them all so it's a win win! Good to hear we're flying in the face of fuddy duddy b&b's! Take care and hope to see you again, Sam and Tiree x

We stayed here last year, Crosthwaite is lovely and Crosthwaite house is a very English georgian house that is simply a family run B and B with very high standards.
Beautiful Damson Orchard, great walks, short distance to the Lakes, the Lyth Valley is a hidden gem away from the crowds

Thanks so much for leaving us a review, we're glad you enjoyed your time at Crosthwaite House. We're very lucky to live where we do - I grew up in Ambleside, which is also lovely, but have to say it's nice to be away from the crowds in little Crosthwaite! Hope to see you again x

We just stayed here as a one off for a family wedding. If it weren't for the fact that my family live just around the corner would definitely be back and recommend it to anyone wanting a beautiful guest house, comfortable rooms, tasteful decor, delicious breakfasts, little pleasing touches, great service and some of the best views you can imagine. Why would anyone want to stay at a large impersonal hotel in the middle of Bowness when you can stay here! Perfect!

Room Tip: Ask for a view out to the valley, we were the last of the wedding guests to arrive and they had all been nabbed!

We stayed at this B&B for a couple of nights whilst in the area for a family wedding. We were welcomed by Sam on Friday afternoon and shared news of my gluten free diet - he reassured me that they would happily accommodate it - and they didn't disappoint. We returned later that evening to be greeted by a candle lit house, a reading room with damson gin and glasses ready for a little night cap and two gorgeous cats. I really felt that we were able to share Sam and Tiree's beautiful home for a few days - delicious home-cooked breakfast (think full cumberland and scrambled egg with smoked salmon), tasty individually wrapped treats left for guests in the hall (including homemade lemon and stem ginger cookies!), comfortable spacious rooms thoughtfully decorated, great conversation and local recommendations. It really is a special place to stay and I'd encourage you to book asap!

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms at the front if you'd like to enjoy the sweeping view of the fields.

Thank you so much for such a fab review :) it has made our day! We really enjoy catering for anyone with special dietary requirements - it just doesn't seem fair that they should have to do with second best. We really enjoyed having you all to stay and so glad the weather was brilliant for what sounded like an amazing wedding.

Hope to see you again

We stayed at this B&B for 2 nights. Off the beaten track, so not for those wanting to be in the middle of the tourists, but perfect for people like us who like beautiful, non-spoiled locations. The family that owns the inn are so nice and very accommodating, making the breakfast special perfect for dietary restrictions (vegetarian in our case -- the french toast was amazing and the omelette was delicious). For such a remote area, it has several wonderful restaurants with gourmet, upscale menus. We ate at 2 of them and can recommend with no hesitation.
