“Well worth the climb!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

A bit of a steep climb up from Fletcher Park past the allotments, but once you get to the top the views are amazing. I agree that there should be more signage in the town, as it is a little gem of a place. Take the kids but try to keep them under control, as there are some steep banks all around the castle, not all are fenced off. In all a good place to spend a couple of hours with a picnic and a camera.

“What a View”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

Kendal Castle stands in an ideal position to allow you to see the whole of Kendal, the river Kent and the Lake District hills, so a must place to visit. The castle itself lies in ruins, but you get a clear impression of the Keep, well, entrance and curtain wall and why the castle was constructed in such a strategic position.
The walk up to the castle is exhilarating and children can easily play hide and seek, fly a kite or sketch the area from a birds eye view.

“Dominating Kendal”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

Sited so that the lords of the manor could survey the town, this small and very ruined castle still provides a commanding view of Kendal and its surroundings. For this alone it would be worth the fairly stiff climb, but it's also a wonderful adventure playground for children and adults with imagination. A bit thin on history unless you can get excited about the idea that Henry VIII's last wife was raised here.

“Great place to walk the dog and admire the view”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

Quite a few of the castle walls are still standing and it's not too steep to get there. The views of Kendal are lovely. Very good place to let the dog run around a bit.

“Lovely easy walk, great views.”

A very easy walk, very near the town centre, that gives wonderful views. A great place to take a picnic, not too far to carry it!
