“Good for families”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

Highlights of Levens Hall is the relaxed atmosphere in the grounds, the superb topiary garden, a reasonable children's play area and obliging cafeteria. The house was good for adults and children-with a trail quiz and prize fun for our younger kids.

Levens missed out on 5 stars, as some of the volunteers in the house were less than friendly. Despite the kids quiz trail we were left with the distinct impression that a few of the volunteers would prefer if the house was left to adult visitors.

Our advice for the team at Levens would be to ensure all the volunteers in the house are trained in relating to younger visitors......that would nudge it from four to five stars! For visitors, it is worth also taking a stroll down to the river outside the main entrance as the views are lovely-and the flowers in spring time well worth a photo.

Thank you for your recent review of Levens Hall on TripAdvisor. I am glad that you enjoyed your visit. This year we took the decision to admit children for free and as a result we have welcomed more families than usual. I have had a word with the guides in the hall and they admit that they have had to change their approach because of the increase in younger visitors as well as supervise the new activities that we have introduced such as the costume hire. We have reviewed all this and hopefully these shortcomings have been ironed out.

I hope that you enjoyed your visit to the Lake District and thank you for getting in touch

Kind regards

“Brilliant day out.”

Thank to all the staff at Levens Hall today. I visited with my two grandsons aged 4 and 2 years old. They had fantastic time running around and hiding, finding all the items on the quiz, and playing in the play area. We also had a walk to the river in the Park and saw the Bagot goats .

“You will not be disappointed”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

We had a lovely day visiting the house and gardens. The house is beautiful, staff are friendly and well informed. The gardens are striking, with lots of places to hide for children. There is a lovely play park, ideal for keeping little ones busy. The shop is great with some unusual items. The cafe was good, but busy and maybe not staffed up enough. There are chickens roaming near the car park and you can take a short walk to the riverside. So much to do and keep children entertained. The family have managed to make this property an appealing and entertaining place to visit, but not overly commercial or tacky in any way.

Dear Louise

Thank you for your very kind review of Levens Hall on Tripadvisor. We are very glad indeed that both yourself and your family enjoyed their visit to Levens. This year we took the decision to allow children to visit for free as well as provide loads of free activities for them to enjoy and when we get feedback like this we know that our efforts haven't been in vain. As a family we love inviting people into our home and hopefully we will see you sometime in the future.

Kind regards

We were on time to do the short tour of the gardens which were interesting to see. Nice old hall too if you like that sort of thing.

“Gardens and Hall”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

Travelled in the easter holiday with our two young daughters (2 and 3) to Levens Hall, the gardens were amazing and the hall itself was amazing. The staff were amazing, really friendly and informative and there are so many things for the kids to do. A member of staff helped them get dressed into regal costumes which they wore for the duration of the tour of the hall. Staff in each room helped the children find the hidden wooden mice (a little game for the children while they toured the hall) and generally made them feel special. Could not recoomend more highly.
