“Good Way To Spend an Afternoon”
Reviewed December 15, 2012

It was a good way to spend an afternoon, the photography exhibition was on at the time, was good to see some of the history of Kendal and the taxidermy was interesting, especially considering the age of some of the animals.
Well worth another visit if we're back in the area.

“Hidden From View”
Reviewed December 8, 2012

Sitting well back off the main street, you'd be forgiven for thinking the museum didn't exist or had closed down. Doesn't take too long to go round, which makes it pricey for what it is. I thought the lighting could have been better in some display rooms as I couldn't read the infomation panels about the exhibits. Gift shop open to all, no need to purchase admission.

“Oldest Maybe, but a little more modernity please!”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Visited with friends and although claims to be one of the oldest museums in in England/Britain, l found the static displays quite old fashioned and would have preferred more interaction i.e. animal noises, bird calls, more computerisation of models showing habitat, food etc. Never-the-less what was there is value for the small entrance fee. Will return to give a more balanced view when next exhibition on.

“Quaint and a bit different”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

Dont expect a flashy museum - and flashy exhibits. Its charm and attraction lay in its quaint normality. You will find a huge selection of stuffed animals - a little bit tired and dog eared in some instances but other excellent ones. One to look out for is the polar bear on its hind legs...looks like its hilding its hand out - my kids (and grandkids) always laugh and pretend its at a tea party and is handing over a plate of fancies!! Some Roman remains and geological finds and some intersting Victorian exhibits and of course - not to be forgotten, a mock up of Alfred Wainwrights study!!

“Old fashioned and congested”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

Kendal museum has an old fashioned layout and congested showcases that are dark and badly lit. Too many exhibits crowded into a small space.
