Good quality rooms and reasonably priced in the location, which is a short car trip or longer walk into the town centre. Decent size room and well appointed for a comfortable stay, with access to a good pool, steam room and gym. A small note that the leisure facilities are also open to members of the public, so it can be busy at times.

Good dining options on-site and we ate at Alexanders The Pub, with good menu range, prices and quality food on the plate, and all a short walk back to the room. Breakfast served in The Greenhouse Restaurant and an extensive selection, quality and efficient service.

As it is also a conference venue, we recommend that if you are looking for a quiet weekend away, check before you book to see if there is a wedding or party booked, as we did experience some noise from a wedding and the hotel was booked solid meaning a slight wait for breakfast and to access Reception, parking and some facilities.

Only small negative comment - we were asked which newspaper we would like in the morning, only to discover after checkout that we were actually charged the cost of the newspaper. Suggest the hotel make it clear that it is not actually complimentary!

Overall, if visiting the Lake District, a good location to base yourself from if you have access to a car and would recommend to others, and re-visit if staying in the region again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to Reception, otherwise the path to some rooms is a bit convoluted and can be a...

Thank you for taking the time to provide such a comprehensive review of your stay with us.

We do try hard to keep any disturbance from other groups using the hotel to a minimum and the majority of our bedrooms are located away from the public areas.
I do take your point regarding newspapers and as such I have shared your feedback with the Reception team to ensure they communicate this more clearly in future.

Please do continue to spread the word and we hope that you will visit us again in the future!

Kind Regards

Ben Mayou

We had two nights stay at the Castle Green to celebrate my birthday. It is a well run friendly hotel. Excellent Cuisine. Very clean rooms. We just relaxed for two days in beautiful surroundings. When visiting this Hotel avoid driving through Kendal.

Room Tip: Ask for room facing the garden.

This is the third time we have stayed at the Castle Green Hotel and have to say that it was another excellent stay. We first stayed at this hotel last year and then in February 2013 with all the family, we enjoyed the stay so much we back for another stay in April.
As always the staff are helpful and nothing is too much trouble. We dined in Alexander's each night and as you would expect the service and food were very good.

We always have our anniversary here on a Sunday where u get dinner thrown in the price ,, not to pleased about the room ,upgraded to a big room asked for room 143 which we stopped last time and at the time off booking that was fine and available but they gave us 144 ??? Nice room just no view at all well a car park to look at compared to the gardens in the other room so not at all impressed with that !!!! Leisure club is good kids don't seem to welcome very small pool with elder ladies swimming none looked happy with kids splashing about but we all enjoyed it ... Dinner was amazing in the greenhouse restaurant and busy which is a good sign ,wine was probably the most expensive I've ever seen anywhere 2 bottles off wine came to around £42 ish. But can't fault the service and food .. Breakfast was also very good small plates tho so you can't get to much on makes you look bad going back for more and all the tables around us got asked if they want more tea we never for some reason .. One last gripe early in the morning we were woken by a British gas meeting they had there brew right by our room and they were loud but apart from that we love it here will be back next year same time ,the best in Kendal easy !!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a garden view

Decided at the last minute to take the Easter long weekend off and started to look about for somewhere to go... First choice was Edinburgh but all the best ones where full next was York and again our preferred choices where full.
Goggled weekend breaks and a few for the Lake District came up decide on this because of the location for exploring by car and the food reviews.
We arrived and had an easy check in managed to find our room easy as there are only two floors other than our first and last visit to the room it was the only time we used the lift it’s faster to use the stairs.
Went a walk in to Kendal after unpacking (Easter Friday) to find most of the shops closed same on the Sunday you would think in a tourist area they would be open when the visitors are most likely to be in the town...And it’s not a ten minute walk more like 30min to the centre and a taxi back.
Back to the hotel for a swim great pool and steam room and children are restricted to certain times so it’s up to you if want noise or not.
First night we ate in the lounge next to the restaurant main doors and the food and service was great.
Next night we decided to try the pub but it’s not a pub in the pub sense as there only room for a couple of people at the bar it’s more like a theme restaurant had a nice steak as part of a three coarse service was good but not as good as the lounge.
Our last night we went to the restaurant and what can I say it was one of the best meals both of has had in a long time food drink and service first class and the cost was slightly cheaper than we paid in the so-called pub.
On returning to our room on the Sunday the Easter bunny had left a multiuser Easter egg a nice touch. But with only one it caused a bit of a fight lol
The room was very nice and clean and the breakfasts with all the local produces and homemade bread was top-class so much so that I put on 6lb in four days
The only bad thing was the smell in the bathroom every time we returned to the room I mentioned it to reception on leaving and my own thought are that the trap in the sink is drying out and perhaps the bathroom needs a durgel valve or eminence trap fitted.

Room Tip: Try and get one to the front as there no view to the back
