Had lunch with my wife and went for the shared Artisan platter, very good but was there too much food?

However service was friendly but a little slow, especially when paying. The platter as mentioned was large but really nice with a good selection of cheese and meats.

Good atmosphere and decor at the Artisan with lots of families and couples but you didnt feel cramped at all.

All in all nice venue

We visit Kendal regually and have often had coffee in Artisan but only eaten there twice. We went for Brunch one very quiet Sunday at the beginning of October. My first comment woud be on the food which was extremely average. My main comment would be the staff, we spoke to three, one of whom could not do enough for us and was the very plesant, one was average and the third..............well a course on customer service would not go amiss and maybe some manners!! Kendal has many good places to eat, standards of food and staff in this one have dropped, we would not rush there to eat again!!!!!

"ar·ti·san - [noun] a person or company that makes a high-quality, distinctive product in small quantities, usually by hand and using traditional methods: food artisans."

We went here for breakfast and sadly the visit was nothing beyond poor. Reflecting on the Artisan title, nothing was high quality, nothing was distinctive, the portions were small and it was certainly overpriced.

A couple of the staff (I counted four) looked stressed despite the apparent lack of custom, but spoke in a tone which suggested we were doing them a favour by being there. Some of the breakfast foods were not available as “the lunch menu was being prepared in the kitchen”, but nothing on the lunch menu was available. Illogical ...

At £15, breakfast / brunch for two should set you up for the day, but we were remained hungry after eating all that was presented; both of us were gobsmacked at the cost vs presentation when the food ‘eventually’ arrived (it took over an hour, in a quiet ‘restaurant’, to order, wait, eat and pay, by which time the parking had expired).

Do yourself a favour, visit the Asda cafe instead; parking is free, the staff are cheerful and the food is hearty!

We had lunch here when down in the Lakes last week & felt the service & food were very good. Restaurant wasnt very busy so we were given a table immediately. Our waiter was pleasant & our order came quickly Food was good, more expensive than some other cafes but worth the extra money for good service & well presented food. Would certainly return, & recommend to others.

Little regimented but good service and good food. Our seater & greater a bit scripted but did cover all the points.

Friday lunch, busy but prompt service and food good (not sure the chips were home-made!)
