This place is part of the history of Kendal, so it was so nice to be able to go there again....after many years in the wilderness (the pub...not me...though I was thirsty....). The refurb has been very nicely done. They have kept the old beams, wood panelling and many of the original features, yet added some quirky touches...funky lighting, cosy wood burner and a nice big fireplace...smart and clean toilets (you should've seen them in the 1970s!!)...check out the shipping forecast! Great real ales...lovely craft gins...all good stuff. The food was very good...great Sunday roast...nice veggie options...I was a tad disappointed with the burger patties in the meat burger though...would've liked a more fresh/hand made style burger but maybe that will come, the rest of the food was great. We went back twice more in three days. Superb....they will get their investment back in no time. Well done to all involved.
