Went for an evening out with work colleagues. All of us struggled to choose - as there were so many things we all wanted to eat. Food delicious, decor very attractive, service friendly and efficient - hard to fault it, really. It would, perhaps, have been nicer to have had some slightly 'lighter' choices for the main course; they were all very substantial dishes. I had two starters, which was perfect and left me room to share one of their delicious puddings. It worked out at about £23 per head, which wasn't that cheap, given that several of us weren't drinking and most people had only one course, but not too bad.

Thank you for your response its always good to great feedback. We do charge a liitle more for our meals and although are menu is very traditional pub food its all made on site fresh so our costs are a little higher. We do however run a 2 course for £10 during lunch monday to thursday and if you require a smaller portion in the evening we will (if we can) accomodateand thanks again for taking the time to write such a great review

Came here following recommendations from previous visits from friends but I was not impressed with the very mundane food. Beer was great from local breweries but the food was lacking in flavour and imagination. The sandwiches looked OK but I went for something a little more imaginative but was sadly disappointed , especially at the price. Wow ,,,,, will not be back.

Thanks for your review glad you liked the beers and as for the food we pride ourselves on doing simple pub dishes cooked on site (no boil in the bag or cheap cuts) which is why the prices are a little higher than say wetherspoons rommneys and pubs of that ilk. Hopefully you will return to us for the beer andf the views anyway.

We called here for lunch after a visit to Sizergh Gardens to see the snowdrops. We had great local beer and delicious homemade soup and sandwiches. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed the real fire. We hope to return again to try the rest of the menu!
We then went onto do some shopping at Low Sizergh Barn farm shop which is just down the road from the pub.

This pub is fantastic. I wish there was somewhere similar in Cardiff! The location is great, easy to find, the pub decor is warm and welcoming and the atmosphere is perfect for a relaxed evening. Then there is the food, oh it's amazing! Home cooked, good quality, it was wonderful. Yes the price is higher than the average, but it is well worth paying, and really it isn't that much more expensive. I'd be there every week if I lived nearby. Thank you for a lovely evening,

We returned to the Strickland as we have not visited for a few years. The beer and the staff were great but the food was very bland and expensive compared with many other similar Pub/ Restaurants.
The standard of food in this area is generally very good as it is very competitive but the Strickland did not impress.
