“Barely edible Sunday lunch”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

This place may be good for ales but the food leaves a lot to be desired. We opted for two roast beef sunday lunches and were bitterly disappointed. The beef was tough, the roast potatoes seemed like they were out of a packet then deep fried, cabbage totally undercooked and carrots part mashed with lumps, no trace of seasoning and to top it all hardly any gravy. Lots of food left on the plates.

“Good pub grub”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

We visited this pub on a Thursday and found it to be reasonable for service and food. You can't book here, although we didn't have any trouble on the night we went. The pub appears to be very large as well. Despite it not being that busy, we did have to park down the road. You order your own food at the bar, and we both had beef and colliewobbles ale pie with chips and veg. Dessert of strawberry cheesecake and fruit crumble. The food was nice in a pub grub way, and we polished off our meals with no problem. The pub does offer a large selection of local real ales.

“Fantastic place”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

I drove my parents up to the lakes to meet up with some of their old friends. We met at the Watermill. The staff were fantastic, very friendly and chatty but not pushy. Everything happened at our pace not that of a busy pub/restaurant. Nice varied menu with interesting specials. Plenty of choice on the drinks front too. They have an onsite brewery and a good range of other beers and wine.
If I'm ever up there again I'll certainly add it onto my itinerary.
