We have just returned from our second visit to Yewfield. We loved our last visit so knew what to expect. No disappointments there. It is a wonderful house, stunning views. On entering the house there is a warm, friendly and welcoming feel with soft classical music playing, thick luxurious carpets and very fine furnishings. The rooms are all individually designed giving added interest. All the fittings and of good quality and everywhere is immaculate and spotlessly clean. The staff are very friendly. Derek is often around for a friendly word. A delicious breakfast starts the day with a very good choice of fresh fruit, juices and a vegetarian cooked breakfast. Breakfast staff are also very friendly and efficient. We ate at Zefferellis and Fellinis in Ambleside, both serve excellent food. It is hard to find fault but our one comment would be the drive into Ambleside every night but that is being very picky!!! I just cant wait for our next visit to Yewfield soon. Thanks to Derek and the rest of the staff.

Room Tip: All rooms can be seen on the website. Pictures accurate

We enjoyed our two night stay here and felt very welcomed and well cared for yet staff were not intrusive and at times it felt like we were wandering around our own country house. A lovely location, convenient for Hawkshead and surrounding area. Very helpful, friendly staff. Great vegetarian breakfasts that set us up for the day. Would definitely return if we were holidaying in this area again.

Just back from this lovely place. No one to meet us when we arrived - although there was a note for us together with our keys and we wandered about and found our lovely little room in the grounds. We stayed in "Rowan": lovely bedroom and bathroom. Warm, clean, good towels and comfy bed (when you avoided the zippy-together bit). No views from our room - just a hedge - but the gardens were pretty for a little wander.
Breakfast was simple but good and when we did finally did meet Sue (lady left in charge in owner's absence) she was friendly and helpful.
Whole thing was good value - three nights B+B and two nights' dinner at the two veggie restaurants down in Ambleside for three hundred and something. Great spot to stay.

Room Tip: Go for rooms at the front if views are important to you.

Glad you enjoyed your stay at Yewfield sorry Sue was not around when you arrived
it is a big house and often we are upstairs or outside.
Sue did come around to meet you on several occasions but kept missing you!

This was a very lovely guest house in a tranquil setting. The staff were friendly and helpful, yet stayed behind the scenes. They had a decent library of music, books and dvds for lending. The bed in our room (9) was extremely comfortable, and we heard an owl outside our window at night. I was very grateful that they offered herbal tea in the room.

The vegan sausage was delicious. My only comment about the breakfast - it would be nice to see a bit of a variation on the traditional Full-English Breakfast. The same old menu of mushrooms, beans, egg and tomato could do with some dressing up. Maybe offer some breakfast muffins, scones, or vegetable frittata ?

Overall, I found it to be a clean, comfortable and peaceful place. I enjoyed their photo albums, particularly the one in memory of their dog Jake.
I would definitely go again and recommend it to others.

I visited Yewfield on a Yoga/meditation weekend run by Steve Emmett, it was really wonderful. The guest rooms are so comfortable and are well equipped. The lounge and dining area are pleasingh to the eye, they have been refurbished to the highest standard in lovely soothing colours and the lounge has a wonderful wood burning stove which is a pleasure to sit around,

The newly refurbished outside studio which was used for our yoga /meditation sessions was a joy with its wide windows which allowed us to take advantage of the wonderful views and grounds around the building.

The staff headed by the wonderful Sue are expert in customer service, nothing was too much trouble, dietary requirements were no problem at all and the variety of vegetarian food offered was delicious.

The next yoga course is planned for November and I will certainly be returning for that weekend

Room Tip: I stayed in room 12 which wa I stayed in Room 12 which was perfect, it had a lovely view, extremely quiet.
