Owner description: Hill Top was Beatrix Potter's most beloved place, packed full of her favourite things and left just as she wanted it for visitors to enjoy. You will see why she loved it so much and used it and the surrounding countryside as inspiration for many of her famous children's tales. Your visit helps the National Trust continue her work to look after the Lake District.

A real treat for fans of Beatrix Potter. The house has been left untouched with Ms Potter's furnishings and personal items. The lovely cottage gardens were stunning. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable during the touch. Would highly recommend.

The staff are excellent & really make you feel welcome. Not really a Beatrix Potter fan in my younger days but thought that the way everything had been left out as though she was out for the day was great.

Was looking forward to seeing Hill Top House, but unfortunately we visited on a Friday and it was closed for cleaning. Had a look at
the pretty garden though. We were disappointed not to be able
to look inside the house.

We spent approx 30 mins wandering the house talking to guides and using the Samuel Whiskers books to view the cottage details. Brilliant if you know the stories, my other half not very much aware of the stories but loved the old feel of the house and original items left. Gardens were nice to walk round and let your imagination run wild. We got there for opening time and car park was almost full, so make sure your there early.

Lovely cottage showing the life of Beatrix Potter with each room set as she wanted it and her books opened at pages to see where she got the inspiration from
