Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: Hill Top was Beatrix Potter's most beloved place, packed full of her favourite things and left just as she wanted it for visitors to enjoy. You will see why she loved it so much and used it and the surrounding countryside as inspiration for many of her famous children's tales. Your visit helps the National Trust continue her work to look after the Lake District.

Worth visting but hated the winding narrow drive to find it. Lovely to see where the famous Beatrix Potter lived but really felt we could have done with more information, there we glass cabinets with nick nacks but no notice giving any information and the same applied to photographs and everything in the property. No photographs are allowed to be taken in the property but you can of course take photos outside.

Very interesting and informative, all the items on exhibition are as if Beatrix had just popped out for walk.

Beautiful spot and very interesting place. Gave and insight into the author as a real person not hidden behind the characters in her stories. Staff very helpful and informative.

Being a Beatrix Potter fan, to see the house she loved so much was a real treat. As you walk through the rooms you feel as if she is just about to return from a walk.
Very helpful staff who point out various locations in the house where Beatrix drew inspiration for her illustrations.
