“Quaint”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

Visited late October and loved the exhibition upstairs celebrating 100 years since Beatrix married her husband William Heelis on the 15th October 1913 and also the anniversary of the publication of her book Pigling Bland. There is even her marriage certificate on display. Also loved the original drawings that were shown. Lovely quaint building where her husband once worked as a solicitor in the beautiful village of Hawkshead. Also nice National Trust shop just around the corner selling nice souvenirs.

“Beatrix magic 2”
Reviewed September 28, 2013

We were the first visitors into the Gallery on Tuesday 24th September, and it was a joy to be able to look at all the original art work without any interruption. Beatrix was a very talented artist, and great author who became closely involved with the Lake District and grew to love it. Another wonderful time capsule.

“Part of the Beatrix Potter Story Experience”
Reviewed September 26, 2013

First and foremost this is part of the Beatrix Potter experience. However, its important to remember that this is only a small part of her story. Although the fact that this is where she met her husband and where he worked is an important part.

The NT do try to extend this by showing parts of her work and life. Please don't expect this to be an all consuming experience of her life, its only a part!.

“Beatrix Potter Gallery”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

This is a good place to visit after seeing the Beatrix's home at Hill Top, it reinforces knowledge, but I was vaguely disappointed, but not sure why. Perhaps it was because it wasn't as good as her home, that was so good, that anything following was destined to be a lesser experience.

“Shut on Friday”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

Disappointed having travelled a fair distance to find that the season times had just changed and from September the attraction was shut on Friday's. The village is quaint, lots of shops directed at the tourist market, everything you would find in any local dales village, nothing spectacular nothing out of the ordinary.
Maybe next time another day, will plan better
