i stayed at the ivy gueshouse for a couple of nights recently - we had a great stay
the hosts, roz and darren, were really welcoming and friendly.
the rooms were really clean, nicely furnished and well stocked with nice toiletries.
there was also a nice reception room downstairs that you are welcome to use.
hawkshead is a really small pretty village and from the ivy guest house you can walk quickly to anywhere in the village - the village is a great base for walks in the south lakes as well.
the price was competitive with other b&b's in the same village.
my only negative - and it is a really small negative - was that the breakfast was only on till 9am - its nice to have a bit more of a lie in on a weekend

Room Tip: all the rooms i saw were nice not all have baths and showers so if you have a preference it would...

We absolutely love staying here. Darren and Roz always make us feel so welcome. The place is immaculately clean. Large hotel chains could take a leaf out of their book. Attention to detail is second to none with lots of lovely little touches to make your stay extra special. Breakfast is always wonderful and sets you up for the day. Whilst we could stay in other B&Bs closer to Lake Windermere, we choose to travel a little further just to stay here. You will be hard pushed to find a better place for such good value and home away from home. Thanks as always! See you next time.

Had a warm welcome from Darren & Roz when we arrived for a 2 night stay. Guest house is situated in the centre of the village and has it's own car park which is a bonus. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. There was a wide choice for breakfast each morning including fruit, cereals, juices, pastries yoghurts and then the full English which was excellent. The owners knowledge of places to visit and where to eat out in the village was much appreciated. We ate in The Queens Head and The Sun Inn and both were well worth the visit. We would certainly return to this guest house and bring some friends with us.

I was 13 years old the last time i stayed at the Ivy Guest House and returning some 30 years later to celebrate my mum's 70th was made even more special by the attentiveness shown. Darren Ros and Darren's mum. They were so friendly and the rooms were very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Should I return to the Lake District within the next couple of years, I will definitely be looking up the Ivy Guest House. Hawkshead, the village, is beautiful and charming

Room Tip: There are only a few rooms so check availability early if you wish to stay at the Ivy House.

We visited The Ivy House for our Mother`s 70th birthday. Darren, the Owner, went out of his way to make arrangements for flowers to be in her room prior to our arrival. We had visited the guest house 30+yrs ago for Family holidays and were very much looking forward to our stay. The Guest House is lovely, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Darren, Ros and Chris looked after us so well and couldnt do enough, from giving advice on places to visit, to the arrangements prior to and during our visit (we had a celebration toast in the cosy living room before heading out for dinner). We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay, would highly recommend it to others and will definitely be back.

Spent a lovely short break in the beautiful little village of Hawkshead in the middle of the Lake District. Hawkshead is well served with pubs and dining and we were very well looked after by Darren and his mum Chris at the Ivy Guest House which makes an excellent base for touring the area. The accommodation was very comfortable, and the breakfasts were great and filling for the day ahead. Darren and Chris couldn't have been more helpful and made for a very pleasant stay. We'd certainly use them again next time we're in the area.

Just returned from 2 nights at this lovely Guesthouse and could have stayed longer if only they had the room! we had room 1 which is a nice quiet twin room with a lovely bathroom which had a roll top bath. Lovely touches in the room such as chocolate eggs on the bed and lovely toiletries to use. The hosts Roz and Darren couldnt do enough for us and made us feel so at home.We had our lovely new dog with us and they made such a fuss of him and gave him a sausage after we had finished to hearty lovely breakfast. Loved our stay somuch that Ive booked to goin May and forNew Year. Darren and Roz seemed more like good friends than just the B&B hosts!
Hawkshead is so quaint and the Ivy is in the heart of it all, bonus of having a car park at the back aswell. Some great pubs up there and all are very dog friendly. We ate the Red Lion one night and can highly recommend the steak and ale pie! A must have visit is to Tarn Hows, once you get there the view is spectacular and the walk amazing.
Grasmere is another gorgeous village to visit. You just cant go wrong in the Lake District and by staying at the Ivy you willnot be dissapointed.
