A great small hotel - currently undergoing a complete renovation. New rooms are very nicely appointed. Service is great and friendly. Cooking in the restaurant is incredible for a small pub/hotel. Highly recommended.

We had a drive to Hawkshead on a grey February Sunday and decided to have lunch at the Queen's Head hotel. It is a hotel full of character with different seating areas one with a roaring wood fire. Service was quick and the food tasty. The yorkshire pudding was enormous. Staff friendly. Would recommend. The village is very pretty and lots of shops open on a Sunday.

We stayed in rooms 101 and 102 in the Brown Cow Annex. Both rooms have been refurbished to a high standard, and were very comfortable and peaceful indeed. For some reason the heating in the morning didn't kick in until 7.45, but apart from this I could not fault the rooms and would definitely stay there again. We had our evening meal in the pub which was very nice indeed. Breakfast the following morning around 9.00 was also good, although the noise from the refurbishment upstairs could be heard, and a strange clash of music between breakfast room and bar was "interesting". The staff were always friendly and pleasant, but service at breakfast could be slightly improved. Overall though, a great little find, full of character.

Room Tip: Choose 101 or 102. Lovely rooms, very peaceful. Very warm & cosy.

stayed at this hotel recently which has just been refurbished - the room was stunning and staff very friendly and welcoming - had a 3 course meal in the restaurant which was exceptional and will definitely be returning soon.
