Description: The Jumble Room in Grasmere is now in its 20th year and from very humble beginnings their ethos has remained the same...Take the very best local and where possible organic ingredients and cook them with love and care.. Our small colourful little restaurant in Grasmere has become internationally renowned, not for pomp and circumstance but for a place to relax and forget our mad and hectic lifestyles...to escape....switch off... if only for a little while.... and leave with the light glowing a little brighter! It is said of the jumble room that it has soul, a small bohemian style restaurant, casual, honest, restorative and uncompromising in the pursuit of quality Prepared with love and served with pride!

“disappointing”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

its 2years since we last went to the jumble Room, this was always our favourite eating place in the whole of the Lakes district, unfortunately we were really disappointed and even more so as we had taken our son and daughter-in-law there for their first time. The bread at the beginning of the meal was not the usual 'homemade' fare of walnut or sun dried tomatoes etc. The fish and chips - usually outstanding - left my husband disappointed, the chips were anaemic, the fish was small and certainly not 'flaky'. My Kedgeree came as 'fishcakes'. Eating here is not cheap and this time we felt over charged. We were reluctant to say anything at the time as we did not want to spoil the evening for our son and daughter -in-law who found it OK but said they wouldn't go back again and sadly neither will we.

“As Good as Ever”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

Had not eaten in the Jumble Room for a while, so decided it as time to go back! Pleased to say the food was as good as ever, with good selection of wines and beers. Menu was sufficiently varied, without dazzling with too much choice. This is still worth a visit for a treat. The atmosphere is good and the decor really quirky and different (that's good).
Oh and remember to leave room for pud!

“Special find in Grasmere”
Reviewed March 11, 2013 via mobile

Make sure u book early if you want to dine here. It's busy for a reason. G8 atmosphere & decor, menu delivers on the promise, good selection of wines & really g8 service.

Only improvement I could suggest is proper ice buckets for the wine not those silly ineffective sleeves, perhaps a review of the champagne cellar, it's somewhat limited & v pricy (from one who drinks champagne in establishments all over the UK)

“What a hidden Gem”
Reviewed March 10, 2013 via mobile

We called in for lunch while staying in Grasmere. The decor is so cost and alternative and very welcoming. We had homemade mushroom soup with homemade bread and a portion of hand cut chips. To say it was delicious would be an understatement. Don't miss the Jumble Room when Grasmere.
