Very nice location in middle of the village but tucked away next to the river. Great walks all around.
Great cottage set on the river bank in a quiet location yet just minutes from the centre of Grasmere.
Comfortable accommodation with well equipped kitchen should you wish to eat in
Grasmere is a lovely location from which to enjoy the Lake District and Buttercrag Cottage is the perfect place to come home to after a day exploring
Good location in Grasmere. Fitted out generously. Lovely accommodation. Will stay again. Highly recommended
This cottage is exactly what we had hoped for. The private patio area by the river outside made it extra special for us. We had brought a small BBq with us and used it on several days. If felt very private even though we were so close to the centre of the village. With the co-op just a short distance away we could easily get everything we needed.
We thoroughly enjoyed taking advantage of the offer of a swim in the nearby hotel which was a real bonus for our teenagers.
We have just spent a weekend in Grasmere on what must have been the wettest weekend of the year. However arriving at Buttercrag Cottage on late Friday evening we found that Martin, the owner, had ensured the heating was left on for a warm and cosy welcome.
The house, which is ideally situated within walking distance of all the village amenities, was clean, the beds comfortable and the dining kitchen had plenty of crockery and cooking equipment.
The pleasant owner arrived the next morning to check all was well and was helpful without being intrusive.
The weather was atrocious but armed with plenty of waterproofs we made the most of local walks and was glad to return to comfortable, warm accommodation
We would certainly consider returning again!.

Location A1. We have previously stayed in hotel accommodation but with younger family members in the group felt it was time to go self-catering and the experience was most enjoyable. The property had all you need for this type of holiday, although the one shower on top floor proved very popular. Good restaurants were in abundance but advise you book ahead to ensure seats.
My wife and I stayed here with our two grown up children and their partners, the location was perfect, we enjoyed the privacy of our outdoor seating area next to the river and also had the luxury of being a step away from fabulous restaurents and shops. We all used the swimming pool facilities in a nearby hotel which were amazing. Martin welcomed us on our arrival and reassured us he would be there if we needed him, (which we didn't)
We would certainly recommend this cottage and location and cannot wait to return next year
Thank you Martin for a much needed , great holiday. Hope to see you next year !
