No need for the car for this one from Grasmere, but in mist can be like a scene form Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' video.

It can be steep on the way up at the back of the Swan Hotel. Good views over Grasmere and Windermere.Small Tarn at the top.

After an energetic (albeit short) climb up the hillside, some amazing views of Grasmere and it's surrounding mountains appeared. It was a steep and slippery descent in the snow, but well worth the effort.

Walked up a amatuer walkers, slightly out of shape!
It's very very steep - we walked as it start snowing, but had been on the longer, but not as steep Easedale Tarn - and found this far more tiring - its pretty much hard work all the way up.
Great views, and there are benches on the way.
It gets a bit rocky near the top, I can't imagine how you'd do it if you couldn't climb up about half your height.
It got very windy and cold at the top, so maybe we caught it on the wrong day!
Going to give it another go in thew summer, see how it is then!

Quite steep at some points but the 60 minute accent dissolved when the view was breathed in!! Gorgeous!
