I would advise that you find one of the deals on offer, otherwise this hotel is not cheap. However I have never experienced such excellent house service, the staff and management are truly brilliant. The rooms are large and the beds larger and very comfortable. The decor throughout the hotel is 1st rate and the spa is great.

The Daffodil hotel has nice friendly staff, lovely views of Grasmere lake, it is very clean and very modern but a little style over substance and unpleasantly sterile. However the breakfast was awful. rubber fried eggs, undercooked bacon, disgusting scrambled egg tasted like powdered egg, bland mushrooms, tasteless sausage and awful sauces, cheap bread and dry pastries, economy t bags and bitter coffee. The chef must shop at some really cheap and nasty supermarket because the food ingredients quality is very low. It's shame because a lot of effort has gone into this place.

Stayed here 3 nights in early Jan to get married... It's been fully refurbished from the ground up, and the finishing quality is excellent. Could not fault the quality, rooms were fantastic. We had a suite room with a sitting/lounge area. Had a view of the lakes from the window. Bathroom was clean, tidy, and very large, complete with bath.

The staff went well beyond their duties in helping us, and were all fantastic, friendly, and helpful. The restaurant was great , we only had dinner there, but the quality was excellent, and actually affordable (we expected $$$ prices but were pleasantly surprised). They were extremely helpful in helping with the wedding, from providing and organising private rooms, through to entertaining our children during the afternoon and night. Our family was made more than welcome.

The hotel is right on the lake, so it's a great view from most of the rooms. You just have to remember the gardens are still being established.. We were there in winter, so it's a bit muddy and wet, hopefully by the end of the next summer the garden should be well established. I think from memory the local council also has a huge say in what the hotel can/cannot do with it's surrounds.

Rooms are very quiet, we slept well, and the carpark is large, so no problem finding a parking spot. Also has a nice open lounge area (next to restaurant) where you can just sit and relax, order drinks, or play the board games provided. Free wireless internet access (throughout hotel)

Also a great location for checking out the surrounding lakes districts, a nice hotel to come home to at the end of the day.

Great hotel, will be even better once the suddoiunding garden establishes. Would love to go back and hopefully will one day. A great stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view, almost most have them.

A thoroughly enjoyable two-night stay in January. Refurbished to a really high standard, our superior valley-view room on the third floor also gave us a look out over the lake. The spa was spacious, relaxing and a proper treat after a stomp 'n' cycle over the hills. Staff were accommodating of requests to securely store bikes, although it would be helpful for a few sheds and a drying room to be made available to guests. All in all a wonderful place to stay and I'd suggest a speedy visit before the discounts expire.

Room Tip: It for superior valley rooms with a valley/lake view.

We stayed in a room with a lake view and it was beautiful. Finished to a high standard. Bathroom was great with a fabulous power shower and Molton Brown toiletries. Loved the Spa which we had to ourselves in the morning and treatments were good. Food was good and reasonably priced, liked the bar, friendly staff. Just need to finish the landscaping. Overall a lovely one night spa break.

Stayed for a couple of nights in October on a voucher deal and had a lovely time. The location is stunning; it's a great base for walking.

Can't fault the staff as everyone was very helpful. Hubby was pleased to see a real ale in the walkers' bar (assumed there was none based on pictures) but it would be nice to see more.

Our room was very modern and large with a huge, comfy bed. The bathroom had a big bath (perhaps a tad long for my little legs but great if you're tall!) and a great walk in shower.

Although we've had breakfast served to our table in similar bracket hotels in the past, I didn't mind the buffet style. There was a good selection that was filled regularly.

We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was fine for the price we paid. It was more "home cooked" than the higher end I would have expected but tasty nonetheless. The presentation of the main courses and starters did give us a chuckle -paper doilies?! Anyway, service again was excellent in the restaurant.

Sorry to say we didn't try the spa but hope to if we visit again. Thank you for a lovely break.
