Owner description: World famous tea and coffee garden with romantic rowing boats for hire on the shore of gentle Grasmere.
Reviewed March 18, 2013

It is right on the shore where you can hire a boat. There is a small cafe which serves snacks and ice cream. This time we were completley put off when we read their sign forbidding photgraphs unless you bought some food!

Lovely little place for a break on a walk, numerous types of tea and other drinks available whilst sitting overlooking lake in a romantic spot. Also can take out a rowing boat for hire if you wish.

I took my mother here as we couldn't resist the name. The setting, overlooking Grasmere is beautiful and peaceful. The tea was spot on but it was let down by the commercial cake. Introduce some home baking and we'll be back.

Stopped off here is was raining hard & I am glad we did.

Great views under a nice canopy. The colour of the boats with the Gypsy trailer made for a nice scene even in the rain. Nice selection of Tea & coffee with some cakes as well.

We bought three postcards for a £1.00.

Surprised to see some of the reviews as the guy who served us was really pleasant.

Having walked from Ambleside to Grasmere, this little place is in just the right spot before getting into Grasmere. Nice coffee and scone but it's certainly no Starbucks or Costa Coffee - and probably all the better for it too!.
