Very nice B&B. Rooms have lovely views over the surrounding fells and are small but very nicely decorated and comfortable. Owners are very knowledgeable about the area. Breakfast was very well cooked and their was plenty to choose from. Location is excellent, about 5 minutes walk into the villiage. Grasmere is a beautiful village and is an ideal base for walks.

We have returned from a fabulous few nights at Raise View, having had such a comfortable stay 15 months ago. I was pleasantly surprised when booking, that John could recall our brief stay last year! I suppose that's what adds a little "extra" to this fabulous B&B, that details are remembered. Before we went I was in contact with John again, requesting that he booked us tables at various Grasmere restaurants.

On arrival, we were welcomed warmly and taken up to our room with John carrying one of the bags (which we haven't had in any other hotel establishment within the UK). We'd requested the Rothay room as it's at the back of the house, on the top floor and we'd stayed there previously. The stunning views are just amazing, yet it's so quiet. We were wondering how much you would have to pay at one of the hotels in Grasmere to get a similar view; far out of our price range, we decided.

The Rothay room is comfortable, with a lovely double bed, with contemporary furnishing and ample storage space for clothing and bags. We loved the Herdy mugs so much that we bought a couple from the Herdy shop in Grasmere! Breakfast is ample for a day on the hills and we made the most of the full English breakfast each morning, which followed the fresh fruit salad/granola/cereals.

Both Karen and John are fantastic hosts and we are looking for an excuse to return to Raise View for a third time. The property is perfectly placed for walking and exploring the rest of the Lake District. Thank you!

Room Tip: The Rothay room is at the top of the house with views towards the Lion and Lamb/Helm Crag.

Dear Victoria & Ian

It was really nice to see you again and many thanks for another really great review. October is such a brillant month to visit the Lakes and we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay.
Everyone loves the Herdy Mugs and the Herdy shop in the village is very popular with our guests.
It was not a problem to book places to eat in the village and Grasmere is very fortunate to have such excellent places to eat and drink.

Looking forward to your next visit.

Best wishes

Raise View is a really lovely guest house. Very comfortable rooms, great hosts, all very homely. The views are excelent and Grasmere village is, of course, a perfect place to be based in the Lakes (Helvellyn is a few miles away and the fells surrounding Grasmere are all climb-able). The location of the guest house, just outside of Grasmere itself, means it is also very quiet and peaceful at night. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Many thanks for your kind review. I have to agree Grasmere is the perfect spot to walk so many of the iconic Lakeland fells and mountains yet it is still very quiet and peaceful.
Really pleased you enjoyed your stay and please come back and visit us again.............there are always plenty more hills to climb!

Cheers

We spent two nights in Raise View and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Grasmere is an ideal place to stay in the Lakes District. Some reviews call it touristy and busy but we were out during the day and at night and in the morning it was quiet and restful with few tourists roaming around. Wonderful to just walk out the BnB and straight onto great walking tracks. Good pubs and restaurants all within walking distance especially Tweedies which was our favorite. Rooms, beds and bathrooms were quite small but very comfortable. My husband is 6 foot 3 and always struggles a bit in a double and it was no different here but we manage fine. We had a room at the top of the house so it was very quiet with no upstairs footsteps. Breakfast was standard but delicious. The owner knows the area well and was a good source of recommendations for walks and visits. A much better option to stay here than in busy Windermere or Ambleside.

Dear Dreamer1NZ

It's always a pleasure to receive a review from one of our overseas guests especially New Zealand as it's a place Karen and I would love to visit.
I know I'm very biased but I have to agree Grasmere is such a perfect location to explore the Lakes as it's so central and is not as busy as Ambleside and Windermere. The walks and places to eat as you have mentioned in your review are excellent and we are always pleased to help and pass on our knowledge of the area.
Thanks for your kind words about your stay.
You never know one day we might get to visit your lovely country.

Kindest regards

John & Karen

This was our first stay at Raise View and will not be our last after a thoroughly enjoyable 3 night break. Karen and John made us extremely welcome and are delightful and helpful hosts. Our Wordsworth bedroom was decorated and furnished beautifully and was always warm and welcoming. The Lakeland cooked breakfast is not to be missed! The guest lounge was a welcoming place to have an aperitif or nightcap from the honesty bar. Highly recommended.

Dear Kenneth

It was a pleasure welcoming you to Raise View House for the first time and hopefully we will have the pleasure again in the future. Karen and I really appreciate your kind words and glad you enjoyed our Wordsworth room which is always popular with our guests.
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and the feedback from our guests is always good but it does help when you have such a great supply chain right on your door step like Freddie Garsides sausages in Ambleside it really is a great 'banger'
The guest lounge is a focal point for our guests to meet and chat about their days walks and exploring the Lakes and the honesty bar works really well....... glad you enjoyed it.

Until your next visit.

Best wishes

John & Karen
